Agreed. Generally.
Have both. Long time 45 fan, but think I actually like the 40 better.
I’ve started making 30 and 42 round bench loaders for Pmags in .223, and they are selling well. Next up is .300 blackout, and 7.62x39 (I have the mechanics on that one worked out, just pondering the production right now). Somebody today challenged me to make a 100 round loader for drum mags, so I’m going to mess around with that, too :).
“I carry a 9mm daily and have never felt under-gunned...”
Not to be too picky, but any handgun you can carry concealed is under-gunned.
I have two Magpul mags for my .45 that never cycled properly. Magpul wouldn’t make it right. Screw Magpul.
I don’t doubt you but still are you certain they were Magpul brand? I really don’t know for sure but don’t think I have ever seen Magpul mags for the 1911.
I have been wrong before tho.

I stand corrected. It was for my 9mm, not my .45 which was another company. But still Magpul didn’t do me right.
Your point is well taken...
These days, I’d prefer to carry an MP5, SBR or even my M1A around many places I have to go...
But the local gendarmes look askance at us peons sporting that much hardware...
So I tend to carry concealed...
“Under-gunned” is always a relative term...Like I said, to each his own...I’ll never tell you your choice is wrong; that’s for you to find out...Same with me...
Shot placement is all that matters.
I have never seen anyone volunteer to stand in front of .22LR.
LOL to your last post.
My personal carry preference would be a Remington 870 with a ten round tube, side saddle, a belt full of buckshot and a few rifled slugs, just in case. But that would be a carry piece in one of those imaginary worlds liberals inhabit where there are no tradeoffs and unicorns handle the farts.
For concealment in the real world I carry a baby Glock in .40 caliber. Not sure I’ll ever change. My baby and me have a long and mutually beneficial friendship.
