Sciatica. That’s what I thought. Maybe get a painkiller injection. I had it at age 25, just waited it out. Very sharp pain up my leg and hip for a few weeks.

Mine started with twinges. Then laying down on my side I would get a throbbing pain. Could still exercise at that point.

Finally went to the doc. XRay said I needed a new hip. I was in the best shape of my life at that point. Never had any issues with that hip before.

I was 46.

You know what, I got one of those electrical stimulation machines at home. Not TENS or whatever.

I did get some relief from using that on my shoulder after each operation. Wasn’t much but, anything was better...

It most cases a problem is attributed to inability of kidney to evacuate uric acid from your system. It leads to cristalizing of uric salts, mostly in your feet joins and causes enormous pain and deformation. Blood test might be a hint but it is probably late to take it because your body has decreased acid level this way - by dumping salts to your joints.
The reasons to the problem must be consuming too much purine rich foods and drinking too few water which normally allows to remove excessive acid with urine.
You should probably cut on alcohol, soda, red meat and beans, sardines - to eat as little protein as possible and exclude factors worsening kidney function. And of course to consume as much water as possible.
Of course it is just guesses, you better visit doctor for proper diagnosis.

I had similar symptoms develop over the last couple of years. I damaged my hip a little in a fall about 20 years ago, but it didn’t start bothering me more than rarely until about 5 years ago. Went to a doc, and he said, “Yup. It’s damaged a little, but not badly enough to do anything about it yet.”
I sometimes can’t walk a half a mile without stopping because of the pain. I’ve found that naproxen works very well as a prophylactic, and that pulling my knee to my chin and holding it there for a few minutes gives me some relief in a pinch. Try putting off the steroids as long as you can.

Thing is, I watch TV on the floor and it hurts then too.

I much prefer being on the floor with the rest of the dirt but, I have to fidget.

read up on anti-inflammatory foods

but to start, take turmeric capsules (a lot of them) - you will know you have enough when you start craving pepper in your food instead of salt

JELLO!!!! (*I am NOT kiddinng)

Try going gluten free for a month- it is NOT expensive to do, you just buy meat and vegetables and milk, cheese, and eggs for a month- no bread or noodles.

What you have is probably an inflamed joint and losing cartilage

try it and see (it can’t hurt!)

When snowboarding 15 years ago, I did run into a tree, hip first but, that was the other hip and it hurt for a while.

Now this one is doing it and a bit worse...

See an orthopedist and get some imagining done. The doctor will readily see if you have a mechanical problem with the joint. Arthritis is usually slow growing and does not come on all of a sudden. You don’t need a trauma to degrade your bones. My neighbor developed a disease where bone tissue was dying in the hip. Needed a hip replacement. My arthritis has been developing for decades. Finally got a hip replacement. See a doctor without dickering around. God forbid, if you have an unwanted growth, you want it out immediately.

You might look into whether a triptan like Zomig or Sumatriptan will help. They constrict capillaries that cause pain. Prescription, def. get a doctor’s OK.

That’s what you do to re-align the sacro-iliac joint. OP, go to the doctor, get checked out, he/she may suggest physical therapy. DO IT! I had shooting pains in my hip and down my leg. Turned out it was a shifted Sacro-Iliac joint that pinched on a nerve. I got massage, heat, cold, and electrical stimulus along with stretching and mild exercise. I suffered with that garbage for 11 years and now that I know the stretches and exercises, I’ve only had one flareup in over 10 years.

Or it could be bone cancer that my Mother died from. Go see the dang doctor.

Sounds like arthritis. Get an xray to see for sure.

I have arthritis in my hip, and I have found that the JBit MedPro (invented by a former NBA player) helps me a lot. I was skeptical, but it really does work for me. It’s a little over $200 and has a 30 day money back guarantee.

Seriously, get some x-rays so they can see what's going on. Find the best orthopedist in your area and if it's truly a new hip you need, once it's installed it will last a lifetime.

But get the best, sweetie. :)
