She is absolutely right! Think about it, you have to be faster, tougher, smarter and stronger to live to a ripe old age.
These days the speed and the strength seem to have deserted me; now I have to hope that there is still some tough and smart left to use.
I have also found that GUILE and SUBTRAFUGE seem to be adequate substitutes for speed and strength.

I had sciatica last year, all along my left leg & lower back. It was so bad I thought I was going to pass out, so went to the ER once last January. Must have been a girl thing, but the pain was pretty extreme and my hubby accompanied me. A few weeks later I got an appointment with a pain management specialist. The doctor said “no surgery will be needed,” and he simply prescribed cortisone injections (two shots) in the lower spine.

Contrary to what people said above, the shots aren’t painful, and they will give you a light sedative during the shots which made them pain free!

Long story short, it’s been over a year, and I remain feeling GREAT, and live without the terrible pain. :)

Those injections are the best thing I ever got from a doctor — I highly recommend!! I understand cordisone injections should not be done too often, and that’s wht I’m glad the shots I had are still working fine after a year and a half.

If the pain returned, I’d definitely get them done again. Awesome!! 2 thumbs up :)

For a short time I worked with a retired podiatrist who spent his 5 mil retirement on the state of the art machine for fitting people with custom orthotics. It is taken to the workplace where measurements for custom orthotics can be done in just a few minutes. I worked really hard to try to make a deal with unions in Las Vegas to solve some of their workers’ aches and pains, but they were unwilling to pay enough to make it workable for me. Custom orthotics for just $200 and they could not get it approved.

>> What’s the diagnosis?

Probably bone on bone...I’m thinking it actually heats up when you walk too far too fast. Cools down when you take a break and stops hurting.

There are nerve endings in bone, believe it or not.

I’m a patient, but certainly not a doctor.

I feel your pain. Literally. A year ago Thanksgiving I had the same thing happen on the right side. I have an incredibly high tolerance for pain and I was sitting on the edge of the bed with tears coming down my face. Mr. GG2 took me to the emergency room. They gave me 5 days of Prednisone and and a muscle relaxer and a pain killer. I was a mess for over a week. My friend told me about the exercise and I started that and it really helped. If I don’t get enough exercise I can feel it starting up a little but nothing like that first time.

Not so bad.

But, I’ve been on my feet all day and hadn’t noticed.

I feel reassured by everyone’s advice

Still, I may go see my friend and see what he says if it persists.

“Custom orthotics for just $200 and they could not get it approved.”

My knees can’t handle more than a few hours without them. My wife - the hips. If the foundation isn’t right, the whole building/body is at risk.

The trouble is we don’t notice until we are older with the aches and pains. And by then much of the damage has been done - it is a lifetime of poor foundation that leads to it. Our son (20) got them years ago as one leg is 1/4” shorter than the other. I need to get my daughters in there to get them checked out.

No, what she said was “Oh wow! 4 inches. I don’t think I do that”.

I understood. 4 inches in diameter is way more than most woman can fit...

To be honest, blowing the tendon was 5 minutes of agony followed by weeks of dread and introspection. Talking to God helped. The pain was over after 5 minutes. The hard part was thinking in my head “I might never be able to work again.” God got me through that.
