I disagree that the license plate is offensive. The “encoded” word is related to artwork necessary for drivers to read “AMBULANCE” in rear-view mirror.

Years ago, The Readers Digest had this one:
A guy was too clever by half when he decided to have a vanity plate that said “NONE”.

A week or so after he had the plate, he was pulled over for a slew of unpaid tickets. It seems that when the police find an abandoned car with no plates, they enter “NONE” in that spot on the form. He quickly got a different one.

I remember back in the 1970s Iowa ( may have been Idaho ) had to recall several normal tags that were accidentally issued after several complaints by the people who got them. The first 3 letters were “GAY.”
