The article mentions a possibility of extracting viable DNA, for comparison with modern-day rhinos.
Pics at link, for what they are worth. A historical discovery indeed.

Are they sure it was “wholly” rhinoceros? It didn’t have some chicken mixed in?

Boy, now did the citizens of Bedrock cause the wooly rhinoceros and the wooly mammoth to go extinct? I’m blaming the Flintstones!”

Yes, and I was about to wonder what if it was John McCain or Lindsay Graham or Thad Cochran they found over there instead.

I should mention that many years ago I read about how some settlers out hunting came upon a frozen Woolly Mammoth entombed in the ice. A group of men gathered at the site once word got out and they chopped it out of the ice.
Reports were that the meat was a bit gamey, but edible. No word on exactly what the taste reminded them of.

Welcome, although the pictures are difficult to see anything in. A historical discovery indeed.

Don’t know if this is along the lines of your usual interests, but you might have a look and see if it does, mate.

Yeah, I’ve never heard what it tasted like either.
I do wonder if they could clone the darn things.
