Lucille Ball fans want ‘frightening’ statue in star’s hometown removed

Lucille Ball’s hometown, just outside Jamestown in western New York, erected a life-size statue to honor the beloved actress — but now it has some explaining to do.

Many take issue with the sculptor’s unflattering depiction of the “I Love Lucy” star.

A self-described “big fan of Lucy’s” from Jamestown thinks the statue needs to be replaced with one befitting the comedy legend.

“Lucille Ball was not only an amazing comedienne, but she was a stunning beauty. Her sense of humor only made her more beautiful,” he said in an interview with Yahoo News. “This statue looks nothing like the beautiful Lucy we all know. If for no other reason than that... the statue should go.”

The Jamestown man, who wishes to remain anonymous, started a Facebook page titled We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue.

Walking around the Hilldale campus you'll see most beautiful art. Sneak into the sculpture classroom sometime, you'll also be shocked at the stunning talent from it's students. Amazing.

Seeing this play-doh turd that is supposed to be Lucille Ball only reinforces the left's corruption of art.

I hope they didn’t pay the Pre-schoolers much more than the cost of the play-dough and $.25 for each artist.

Detroit has some really great old school statues as well. One of my personal favorites is the Alpheus Starkey Williams statue on Belle Isle.

The spirit of Detroit is more of an art deco style but I like it.

Burning it would take a very hot fire. Because it’s bronze. I guess it could be beaten into swords or plowshares.

Looks like a listing (and pics) of most of the statues in Detroit. Unfortunately the picture on the page is the butt ugly Dodge Memorial Fountain.

I don't know what the artist got, but he should have gotten life.

The city ought to charge the “artist” with littering.

She definitely was a beautiful woman, and that statue does not look like her.

That said, her TV show was very stupid, IMO.
