Yeah. That’s why I’m puzzled. ADHD drugs are (usually) amphetamines.
I would think that the euphoric effect caused by same would have the patient act really happy, excited, &c.
This is why they’re so addictive—they stimulate the brain to generate dopamine, which indicates pleasure.
Not trying to question you or anything; just curious.
How have the CAFE standards killed anybody?
Again, not trying to flame ya, that statement just piqued my interest...
I’m not sure how they count “prescriptions dispensed” or how that relates to the actual number of patients.
Anybody ever pay attention to the myriad of drug commercials out there? When they list the possible side effects it always sounds worse than whatever problem it's supposed to cure. My Son was on ritalin for a time, a very controlled time by us, and never on the weekends, he needed assistance until he matured and learned to control himself but a child needs to be able to be who they are also! Happy to say my son wasn't on it long and was able to achieve teaching credentials and a Masters in English.
Canada Ping!
People who are truly ADHD react very differently to amphetamines. They actually are able to focus their distracted thoughts and concentrate. The physiological effects are demonstrably minor if one has ADHD. The problem is that most people given the drugs are not truly ADHD, they are boys who need physical activity.
Drugging boys for being boys is epidemic and the results are horrific in some cases. There are no empirical studies of these drugs on children, even though children are the greatest consumers. The same with any major drug class including SSRIs. Then you add in comorbidity between drugs and it’s amazing we don’t have more suicides and psychotic breaks.
i currently take a drug not associtated with adhd...
i was told it could give me suicidal thoughts...
what did i do????
pay attention to my thoughts and dreams...
so far, weird dreams but no action items..
now, back in the 90’s, i took chantix..
i did not sleep for 17 days, began to hallucinate, and my wife found me naked in a corner screaming for death to all.....
if a newfound drug promises miracles, enlist the aid of an independent person to monitor you..
it might work..
it might not..
LOL
And I REALLY needed the laugh!
When I was a kid, I was what they called hyperactive (hold had out and it twitches on its own, leg kicks uncontrollably). A combination of a firm hand and life teaching me stuff worked it out in the long run. Nowadays if a boy just acts like a boy, they medicate him into submission. ADHD medication is child abuse, except for EXTREME cases.
They tried that with my grandson when he was in Grade 1. Put an end to that pretty quickly. The teachers (and some parents) are just lazy. A kid presents just a bit of a challenge and they can't deal with it. Lazy.
>> A kid presents just a bit of a challenge and they can’t deal with it. Lazy.<<
100% correct!
Gosh, you don't have to tiptoe around disagreeing with me! Tell me I'm fulla' it if you think! I won't be offended.
That's my biggest problem with FR, and why I'm so stingy @ pledge time. The zotters take so much joy in stifling conservatives and libertarians who offend them. It used to be a lot worse. But, I'm still terrified I'll be banned for offending the wrong little old lady.
In answer to your question; It's simple physics. No matter how many safety measures have been built in, if a Prius hits a '61 Olds 98, the Olds driver will go to the car wash and the Prius driver will go to the morgue.

I REALLY wasn’t trying to disagree with you. :-)
I’m actually quite hard to offend, myself.
