If that's what it takes to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, I'll pass. Sounds like an invitation to join the Borg or something.
I just want a stable operating system that I'm not forced to abandon every three to five years. I liked XP a lot, then settled in nicely with 7. Now folks are trying to get me to move again. Sheeesh...

LOL That was pretty much my reaction too.
And yes, it's a lot like joining the Borg. The idea of having to work harder and take extra steps to do what used to be the default, just pisses me off every time I have to do it. I'm building up a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine this week and it's the Windows 8 interface and you're just stuck with it, period. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen on a server. It fights me every inch of the way, and in some instances, "you just can't get there from here".
Honest to God there are times when I recall Windows Server 2000 with joy and gratitude by comparison.
But some people love it. Good for them.
I’m still disgusted about Win2000 Pro.
:D
Bwahahahaha!
Oh please stop being ridiculous. Your hands will learn it in a couple of hours, and which point the cortex is no longer involved. Unless you peck out your messages on FR on key at a time, your hands learned how to perform very complex takes without the interventions of your higher brain long ago.
