You can almost see the beaver, too.

What is the history of that photo? I heard that Marilyn Monroe made one TV commercial, and it was for Union Oil Royal Triton motor oil. That photo of Marilyn next to the Pontiac would not make it past the censors of the early 1950’s. I bet it was not published.

We got our first TV around 1952 in Panama City, FL. At first it came on just about dusk. One day one of my first grade school mates told me the TV was going to be on in the daytime too.

Everyone asked, how will you be able to see it?

I remember those test patterns but it has been a long time as they all have been on 24 hours for a very long time.

Nope. Didn’t see the Ottawa war chief, who failed to capture Fort Detroit, anywhere.

Might be her own car posed on a studio lot. Lots of repros of the photo in collector car circles.

It appears to have been taken on a movie back-lot. Note that even the chimney on the furthermost building is only complete on one side, like the rest of the building.

Thanks Nascarnation. My father worked for Union Oil Company of California. That company had quite a history. They helped get the Dodgers move to Los Angeles. Marilyn Monroe made a commercial for them. Football legend Leroy “Crazy Legs” Hirsch worked for Union Oil.
