The hills were alive with the sound of music this week after hikers in search of sweeping views of Southern California were surprised to find a piano on a lookout in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The piano was discovered on top of Topanga Lookout, near Stunt Road in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area.
Several photos posted to Instagram indicated the piano was hauled up Tuesday to the ridgeline for a music video shoot involving Seatlle-based artist Rachel Wong. Wong was a finalist in Ford's 2012 "Gimme the Gig II" contest, according to her biography.

Land of hippies, criminals in hiding, and meth heads.

It’s gorgeous — particularly looking over towards the bay.
Trying to find a pic with that angle.

1. Record video.
2. Cut in sound track(s) post-processing.
Tuning irrelevant.

I hike a fair bit. Once I and a hiking buddy were in a fairly remote location and found, standing in amongst tall trees, a standard issue office supply cabinet. It had no leaves or other debris on it. It looked like the obelisk from the 2001 movie.
We called out to see if anyone was nearby. No answer. Curiosity overcame me and I tried the handle. One door swung open and the thing was filled with several thousand dollars worth of photographic equipment, lenses, camera bodies, tripods etc.
We left it untouched further but I have no idea how or why it got there.

Graffiti adds to the ambience?

A lovely natural setting right there. Ruined by the graffiti of illegal aliens and hippies.

Well, it doesn’t have to be in tune if you are just using it to shoot a video.

My dad was a Hump pilot in the China-Burma-India Campaign. A particularly nasty Nationalist Chinese officer insisted that dad's C-46 carry back a piano he had “confiscated” to safety in India, backing out more useful material. Five minutes into the flight, the cargo door came open and the piano went out in the foothills of the Himalayas.

And I’m sure someone went up there and tuned it, too.
It’s the sort of thing my own OCD would have compelled me to do if I were into pianos and lived in the area...

Ruined by the graffiti of illegal aliens and hippies. True hippies would never do that. The responsible parties are those who think that "rap" is music.

Well, it wasn’t mine so I’d never take any but I can only surmise some sort of photo shoot was going on near by.
