I’ve had problems lately with Chrome. Adware with popups. Hate it. Nothing shows up when I run anti-virus software.
Can this process be used on Chrome?

If you are running Chrome on a Mac, this should take care of it. . . but check in Chrome for any of the named plug-ins.
