more racial/gender blacklisting.
Well, somebody owes John Rocker an apology.
Was this girl’s story crazily, crazily oversold - absolutely.
Was that a really stupid and offensive thing to post about a 13-14 year old girl - absolutely.
It’s a public university, so the First Amendment applies. They haven’t kicked him out, just off the team. Harsh punishment, perhaps, but hard to see a court having much sympathy for him.
These kids and Twitter (and probably alcohol . . . .) - sigh.
I don’t think so. If it was a white girl of that age who was famous then I believe he would have received the same punishment. It’s probably more celebrity status of miss Davis that got him let go, if it was a not so famous girl pitcher then he probably would have gotten suspended for a few games. In the larger scheme it’s really dumb to make that statement about a girl that did nobody any harm but just played a game
“Slut” can be a term of endearment among some young ladies. This guy better figure out that he’s a white male, and he’s got nothin’ comin.’
The internet allows formerly private momentary stupidity to be broadcast worldwide.
Is Bloomsburg's athletic department run by six-year olds?
"It's not our fault. He made us do it."
LOL...
So did you blame the women vets who were being given extra attention or did you blame the media-types who were pimping their abilities?
He ain’t confused. He’s an idiot. These are the types of stupid comments, either by a black or a white, that causes race relations in this nation to be what they are. People simply too stupid to just shut the heck up and learn to get along with people. I served 20+ years in the US Army. I was around nearly every type and kind of person. The Army has people of many different back grounds, color, etc. Men and women who make up this Republic, from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Russia and Eastern Europe. People from all places and you just learn to get along with people. Have a common goal. But, people like this guy, with stupid remarks regarding a teenaged girl, is just plain stupid. Even IF he did not agree, as he appears not too, just shut up and keep it in your own head. People are just too dumb to keep their mouths shut. Stupid.
Tis better not to Tweet and be thought of as an idiot, than to Tweet and remove all doubt.
Well at least he wasn’t racist.
Sad but true.
Except I would call him a male rather then a man. The men that I know would not make such comments about a girl. Then again, the men that I know rarely hate and certainly not without reason.
Youth today refer to each other as bitch, slut, nigga, and a host of other otherwise offensive terms. I doubt he was impugning her sexual history, so I’m betting it was simply this next recent “term of endearment”. Dumb, but true.
Just like that 1SG who got that impact ARCOM for trolling social media, goading soldiers to say something out of line and instead of taking it up with the appropriate chain of command she jumps the chain and goes straight to the DOD sexual harassment office.
From what I’ve read of her, she’s always been “substandard” and has a giant chip on her shoulder.
Probably meant to post about Sandra Fluke.
I imagine if he would have left of the word “slut” and just said “What A Joke” he would have still gotten greif for it because of her race, they would have said he was raciist.
I am sure this will be a huge film for Disney—not.
Yes, that’s another way of looking at it: by being a girl playing baseball and garnering positive attention for it, she’s damaging all of male-kind. The obvious reaction of a real man is to direct sexual slurs at her.
What if what he said is true?
made it ILLEGALLY to the Little League playoffs.
Don’t know where your hostility is coming from.
Fact is, all too often normal, average skills or actions are celebrated just because they are done by a girl/woman. That alone should disappoint all, because rather than the deed, it is the sex that defines notability and celebration.
