Stop watching so much porn. :-)

More seriously, something like that sounds like a video driver problem. Check your manufacturer's website to see if there's an update.

Does the fan speed up before the shut down?
Are you running on the battery, or AC, or it doesn’t matter?

Auto-shutdowns are a protection built-in to the motherboard/operating system. They monitor excessive heat. That kind of sounds like the RAM and/or the video card is/are getting too hot.

Is the laptop on the sofa/table/lap? Where? Maybe it just needs to breathe.

My laptop has frozen up a couple of times lately when I clicked on a couple of links. I let it sit for a minute and it went back to the Windows screen. I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to computers so I can’t help. I’ve learned quite a bit but it’s mostly trial and error for me.

Your CPU is overheating. Likely because of accumulated particulates growing on the cooling fan over time and reducing its effectiveness. You will need a hobbyist’s utility brush and some Q-Tips to clean it out, or the bearings might be too far gone and you need to replace the fan itself.

Also look at the air intakes and fan exhaust ports and clean them out as much as possible.

This sounds like a codec related issue to me. Try a different player. Update your player. Codec is what tells the player how to view the file. They are different for different types of files.

The laptop is probably overheating due to the additional processing load for active video/audio streaming. I have an HP laptop that does the same thing. Try getting a cooling fan under it to allow some space between it and whatever surface it is sitting on.

I had problems like that with an old laptop. Heat is generated by high usage, and the old laptop couldn't keep up when it was plugged with cat hair. A cleaning helped. ;)

Could be a hardware/memory resources problem..

Try this:

Go to Control Panel folder, then 'Display', then 'Settings', then click on 'Advanced', then under 'Troubleshoot' slide your 'hardware acceleration' slider all the way to 'none.

Perhaps close your browser then relaunch and watch video.. Did that fix it?

It’s overheating. Either the fan is blocked or the material that keeps it from overheating has worn away over time.

Laptops can get packed with dust and lint. Try vacuuming the vents.

You haven’t responded to anyone, so I guess your laptop caught on fire and you’re dealing with the fire department.
