Harris Ranch Lassos A New Breed -- Tesla Owner -- With Charging Station

By DIANA MARCUM

Harris Ranch draws a herd of Tesla owners with a perfectly placed battery-charging station Along this stretch of Interstate 5, about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, pickup trucks outnumber cars, radios usually pick up only Spanish-language and country music stations, and the state's largest beef-cattle feed lot is within sniffing distance.

Then there are the Teslas. Harris Ranch Inn and Restaurant, a landmark at this Central Valley crossroads, is drawing the pricey electric cars like cows to a salt lick.

About half of all Teslas — and 40% of all plug-in cars — are registered in California. So far, that amounts to only 100,000 cars out of 13.2 million. If California is to succeed in its effort to help solve the climate change crisis by edging the nation off fossil fuels, it's going to need to get more Volts, Leafs, Smart cars, BMWi3s and Teslas on the highway fast, many advocates argue.

It's like they want you to say 'wow' and ask a lot of questions. - Harris Ranch waitress Erika Cabrera on spotting Tesla owners

A well-placed charging station is essential to this effort, even as electric cars evolve beyond 200-mile ranges. So far the state has about 6,300 charging stations. The goal is to have at least 100,000 to support 1.5 million zero- and near-zero-emission vehicles by 2025. The unlikely scene unfolding in the heart of California oil country may be cause for electric car boosters to feel optimistic.

On a recent Harris Ranch stop, Arthur Mrozowski paused on his way out of the restaurant to snap a photo of four Teslas sitting in a row.

zero- and near-zero-emission vehicles

That's kinda like saying I don't eat cows. I get my beef at the supermarket.

No charger needed, but one can be used.

Just like the good old wild west > the stagecoach would stop every 100 miles, stop to water/change the horses, the continue the journey some time later

When I'm in that area, I listen to popular music from c. 1940 to 1970 on KZPO, at 103.3 megacycles on the FM band. I can only pick it up from around Gustine in the north to Lebec in the south.

I do not object to posting any article. What I object to is the intent of the source. The LA Slime never has the truth as its primary objective, only a left wing agenda that is meant to ruin our faith, liberty, and country.

Andersen’s does Pea Soup.

That’s in Santa Nella.

There’s also one in Buellton. I stopped there once. I didn’t have any soup, but I had a pee.

Anderson's Pea soup is in Selma, California. Harris Ranch Restaurant is at Interstate 5 and Highway 198, Northeast of Coalinga, California.

Am I allowed to ask where the electricity that charges these silly toys is generated? Is it conjured out of unicorn farts and rainbow vapors?

If there are any individuals who deserve to have all their money taken by a benevolent Big Brother and redistributed to the "poor", its Tesla owners.

A New Battery Pack for the Telsa is 12,000 and 30 Minutes to charge

I heard investors talking that just the resale of Battery Pack ith net the company more than selling the cars.

Tesla nets zero from selling cars.

Wow. I would not be anywhere near tempted to buy such a car if the replacement battery were 12,000 dollars!

You know what this reminds me of? We were looking at an HP laser printer for 300 dollars. There were 4 cartridges that would we have to buy, eventually, and they each cost 85 dollars, or 340 dollars total! So if we had bought the printer and the cartridges, we would have spent 640 dollars. Sell the printer and make the money on the cartridges. It seems like Tesla is using a variation of this practice. Sell them the car, and make the money on the batteries.

“I heard investors talking that just the resale of Battery Pack ith net the company more than selling the cars.”

That is 100% false. Four Pinocchios.

The Tesla Model S has an 8 year, infinite mile warranty on the battery. Since the Model S was released in 2012, that means all of them are still under warranty.

It is incredible to me how anti-electric-car baloney gets accepted at face value and spread around as rumors around here.

I don't know the specific percentage that comes from rainbow vapors, but here are the percentages for all the other electricity sources in California:

Natural Gas 44%
Nuclear 9%
Coal 8%
Hydro 8%
Wind 9%
Other Renewables 10%
Other 12%

They built a 10 bay charging station in Brattleboro, LOL. It probably cost $500,000. I’ve never seen a Tesla in there, and I’ve only seen 1 Tesla in VT. The closest one is more than likely 100 miles away. The snow removal contractors park their loaders in there.

I think there are a lot of people who view the concept of how Teslas are sold (with state and federal tax money being awarded (in some states, up to a total of $13K) to be taken off the price of the car so consumers can buy them more inexpensively) that everything about it is illegitimate and fair game for any detraction, true or false.

To some of them, the whole thing is a lie at the taxpayer’s expense, so what is one more lie heaped on it?

It is a beautiful vehicle, in my opinion, and if I had a huge amount of disposable income and were in the market for an electric vehicle of some kind, I would consider buying one.

There are a lot of conservatives who hate the concept for two reasons: It is viewed as a manufactured success on the back of tax dollars, and it is marketed and sold as a remedy to Anthropogenic Global Warming, which is viewed as snake-oil science by anyone who takes the time to examine it.
