Bachelor Nation: 70% of Men Aged 20-34 Are Not Married
Pajamas Media ^ | 03/12/2015 | Dr. Helen Smith

I saw this headline at Newsalert from a CNS News article and went over to read it:

(CNSNews.com) – Seventy percent of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married, and many live in a state of “perpetual adolescence” with ominous consequences for the nation’s future, says Janice Shaw Crouse, author of “Marriage Matters.”

“Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,” Crouse, the former executive director of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, wrote in a recent Washington Times oped.

The high percentage of bachelors means bleak prospects for millions of young women who dream about a wedding day that may never come. “It’s very, very depressing,” Crouse told CNSNews.com.

It seems that Crouse and her crowd are watching too many Say Yes to the Dress episodes. So what matters is that women’s dreams are shattered? What about the bleak prospects for millions of men across the country who get very little legal or psychological protection from marriage? Now that’s what’s very, very depressing. Change that and maybe more men will be interested.

....” 70% of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married”....

Why would they marry? They have it all without that noose around their neck...nor the expense.

I think it’s in many cases the gal is on welfare if, kids are involved,.....so they live together rather than marry so we can pay for the kids to have their mother at home.

New neighbors are doing just that and planning on buying a home in a year while they save “Our money” to do so.

Women have made any relationship far too toxic to risk everything on marriage.Feminists have made it worse. Liberals have made it law.

You may be serious but it just makes your argument all the more ridiculous. To establish your moral equivalency argument you select a man who has a large house, pool, secretary, a business with an obvious mid-six figure salary. I.e. <1% of American males. That you need to go to <1% of the population to make an argument, which you are serious about, illustrates nothing but the absurdity of your viewpoint.

Can’t. Court determines alimony and child support based on previous year or prior years with expectation on continuation of income. Failure to pay is jail. Quitting work would have no effect.

That's slavery.

Stop thinking about men-and-women. Marriage has not been about them for 40 years. Read your state’s marriage license. It’s a contract between you and the state wherein both parties must agree to the state’s terms, jurisdiction and judgment.

“Oh wait. I just figured out that there is not going to be anyone to take care of me in my old age if I don’t have a family.”

Maybe that’s a reason for women and pussy men. But as a man I’d rather not live than get to that point.

If I can’t wipe my ass or talk, give me the shot.

Because they will throw you in jail.

And You are aware that they keep the c’hild support’ meters running even when you are in jail !

Because ‘going to jail(for any reason)’ is considered a ‘voluntary act’.

Let me boil it down to some really simple stuff. If someone were to invent a valve that could be implanted into a man’s vas deferens, which he could turn on and off at will, feminists would blow a gasket.

How could they get child support, alimony, etc....?

The horror!

It sure is. In my state they have a “formula” that determines what one party pays to another (alimony; unless you come to an agreement) and what percentage is child support. Even if you are one of the 90 mil+ American’s out of work, they will assess you at the bare minimum at “minimum wage” (even though you have no job. In county it equates to approx $400.00 a month. If you don’t pay, you can enter an appeal but those take months and by that time you are seriously in arrears and domestic relations has already gone after your un-employment before you even get to the hearing.
“Family Court” is an abomination.
Seriously, when I called my local domestic relations recently to open a child support case the woman was almost sneering over the phone thinking I was fighting support. When I told her the kids lived with my and my x-wife was not kicking in like she should the woman became one degree off from hostile.
I gave up on that quest, it was not worth the time, effort, headaches and who knows what else might happen to me financially.

I rediscovered The Woman who, while she thinks of herself as liberal, is actually deeply conservative in a relationship sense. I’m one lucky guy.

I had it worse. The “big” boss (about 250 or so with way less appeal than Killary) was an expert at being passive/aggressive and duplicity. Since I didn’t appear to toe some line, she set out to make me miserable and did a darned good job.

Her gal pal and 2nd was the “good cop” but still untrustworthy and anything said or done was pipelined directly to the big one whether true or not, implied or not.

One of hefty hag’s directives to me was not to talk at all to anyone unless I absolutely had to. I wished I had got that in writing. By that time I was so broken down and mentally beaten, it didn’t matter.

This outfit on the other hand would slap on the wrist once a guy who routinely slept on the job, keyed cars, took 3 hour lunches, lie repeatedly and blatantly about anything, and was basically spaced out most of the time.

I resemble that remark. I’ll probably end up with lung cancer too. Don’t have the sheepskin coat though.

I agree that I had a friend back in the day who paid alimony to his wife for the rest of her life because she was an alcoholic and he could afford it; so his goal was to keep her from scrounging off their two sons and messing up their lives. God bless him for thinking that way. And like I said, he could afford it — but he worked very hard for it, too.

...we all get into trouble if we try to fill the place in our lives reserved for God with another person.

Amen, amen, a thousand times. Marriage is to God, and requires an opposite sex partner.
