Kaci Hickox, nurse who fought Ebola quarantine, leaving Maine

Kaci Hickox, the nurse who grabbed headlines for defying quarantines in New Jersey and Maine after treating Ebola patients in West Africa, is leaving the state.

Hickox, a Texas native, told me in an email that she’s moving to Oregon to take a job with a large health care system.

She arrived in Maine in October following a trip to Sierra Leone to care for Ebola patients, bringing the national debate over travel restrictions for health care workers returning from West Africa to Fort Kent’s doorstep. Hickox lived in the Aroostook County town during her showdown with the LePage administration, later relocating to Freeport and then Yarmouth.

As she insisted throughout the ordeal, Hickox never was infected with Ebola.

She has remained in the spotlight, named a person of the year by Time magazine, blasting New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for his comments about vaccines, and embarking on speaking engagements to raise awareness about Ebola and the world’s response to the deadly virus.

She has said she hopes to return to West Africa.

I have had several wonderful nurses who put the needs of others ahead of their own needs, and often to too great an extent. I loved those women. Kaci Hickox is the kind of nurse I would not want near me, near my wife, or near my children. She belongs behind a counter at the Motor Vehicle Administration, or in the audit department at the IRS, where caring about others is not expected.

You can only say that in hindsight.

In the meantime, she DID put people in jeopardy. Isolation has ALWAYS been the primary tool for Ebola

No, I could say that (and did say that) at the time. Isolation is the primary tool for containig Ebola, yes, but that refers to isolation of people who exhibit possible symptoms of the virus. There is no reason to isolate someone who is not exhibiting symptoms.

Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you in the backside. One less moonbat in Maine is good for Maine.

You are mistaken.
The Ebola virus can be contagious when the infected person exhibits no signs, and beyond the 21-28 days used.

I suppose we're paying for her contraceptives, too.

Nope..."she" was born Timothy so no contraceptives needed. We *did* pay for his surgery and hormones however.

...and beyond the 21-28 days used.

I'm not sure that's true.I went to East Africa last fall and before leaving I went to the travel clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital for malaria medication and advice.I told the doctor,an Infectious Diseases specialist, that I intended to stay away from family and friends for 21 day after my return (to protect them from possible harm) and asked him if I should say away longer. He said no,if I was feeling well 21 days after leaving the area that meant that everything was OK.

MGH is the most important teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School

I think Kickox was a shill for the Obama administration and the left. She is paid to go where her ilk is needed, sort of like a community organizer.
