In a Facebook post following his interview with CNNs New Day, Dr. Ben Carson issued a statement, apologizing for saying people who change their sexual orientation after going to jail shows that being gay is a choice. [ ]
I support human rights and Constitutional protections for gay people, and I have done so for many years. I support civil unions for gay couples, and I have done so for many years. I support the right of individual states to sanction gay marriage, and I support the right of individual states to deny gay marriage in their respective jurisdictions, Carson said.
During the CNN interview, Carson indicated that civil issues like same-sex marriage should be left up the states.
Heres what I would do. I would do what the Constitution says. Constitution says: civil issue of that nature should be determined at the state level. Why does it say that? Because the judicial system at the state level has to answer to the people, he said in the interview.
Carson also suggested that two peopleregardless of sexual orientationshould be legally allowed to determine property rights and visitation rights.

No, “I don’t object to” is not all that much better.
If he is going to leave it to the states, and the states are being overruled by federal judges, then he’s leaving it to the judiciary and agreeing to gay marriage not just civil unions.
Was it really conservatives who did that redefining? or “in name only”?
Carson has Evolved on Gay Marriage just like Obama.
I lost respect for this guy back when he came out as a gun grabber but he has definitely jumped the shark now. Hang it up Ben.
Credit where it is due; Dr. Carson is being honest, unlike Obama who was against it when it served his purpose but has now “evolved”.
F U B C
He almost lost me at ‘black’ (thanks Obola), definitively so at ‘gun control’.
LOL. From FReeper perfect candidate/savior to toast in seven words.
Any we’re supposed to be surprised by this?
I wrote off Carson long ago with his ridiculous “no guns in the city” remark.
He’s been a fraud since then.
Thank you for playing, Dr. Carson.
Next!
Honesty about evil is about the same as dishonesty about same. The only significant difference is the location on your body they intend to put the knife in.
Perfect candidate? Nope, too squishy on Second Amendment issues. These seven words just throw the last shovel of dirt on the grave of Carson's political aspirations.
Sherman, set the WABAC machine for 2002!
Yup. That’s all it has ever been to the state, just a contract that can be broken and resumed with permission and held between any parties the state currently allows.
That’s a big reason we are now in this mess, in my opinion.
Freegards
How about getting government out of the business of treating married and single people differently, and then the issue is left to individual parishioners and churches? Nah, that’s too simple. *sigh*
Jeb’s crew and the media can keep this guy afloat as a spoiler.
I believe that Dr. Carson is a good man. I also believe that he’s allowing himself to be shoved through one political minefield after another with the hope that he’ll eventually step on a destructive land mine.
And buh-bye Ben.
