1.) We don’t know definitively if Israel has nuclear weapons but I wouldn’t doubt it is in the high 90’s percent chance that they do have them.

2.) Signing the NPT would require that Israel be inspected for the aforementioned.

Israel would most likely say that they have no secret nuclear weapons program that would require inspections, and Iran would say the same thing -— and around and around we go...

In the end, people getting worked up over a discussion over the NPT, Israel and Iran (and I am not saying you are but some are) won’t make this discussion go away. That genie was let out of the bottle yesterday.

The NPT will either stand strong or it will potentially be seen as a hollow man.

Gotta go for today...

Other countries have had left and right governments and yet signed on.

I imagine that the answer as to why they haven’t signed on is contained in the final part of your post.

Israel would probably say they have no nukes, and Iran would probably say the same in reply. Around and around she goes, where she stops...

Then perhaps Israel would say she has no secrets - so why any inspections - and Iran would probably say the same in reply.

It is going to come down to the US getting a good deal with Iran, getting no deal and we do nothing after that, or we go to war.

If we go to war, you can bet it will take a half a million boots on the ground to secure the country and get to the underground areas scattered all over Iran. Who wants that?

One nuke (of any size) on the ‘Holy City’ of Qom, and one conventional cruise missile up the butt of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Saudis take note and radical Islam isn’t heard from again for a couple generations. Western governments don’t understand the power of symbolism in Islam.

It is to bad that the Japanese cities that were bombed were rebuilt. It would be educational to sent the folks that Ho Hum a nuclear attack to actually see the devastating results.
We broke the rules and flew across Hiroshima at about 50 feet;it was safe because there was nothing there but shadows burned into the ground.

I think it will "pave the way" for Israel to do as BiBi said; deal with their enemy,  (reading between the lines)  engage in a final solution, with or without the U.S.!

When will it happen; I suspect soon after obama signs his deal with Iran to surrender the entirety of Western Civilization.

That there was an existential threat from Israel’s neighbors to her very existence ala the 67 and 72 (?) wars. So she required a deterrent to prevent further incursions.

That’s the best you have? [...] But your Ad Hominem and Red Herring is still duly noted.

I merely corrected your orthography, and did not attack the content of your article.

I happen to agree with your position - but still find misspellings in the lede irksome.

Regards,

Israel was a country surrounded by enemies, which tried to destroy on multiple occasions. Their nuclear weapons were not only a threat to their neighbors, but to the Soviets, who wanted to destroy Israel. In 1973, when the final Soviet attempt at a Final Solution using Arab proxies failed, the Soviets threatened to directly invade Israel. Israel threatened to nuke the Soviet fleet in Crimea, and the USSR responded by threatening to nuke Israel preemptively.
Moreover, Egypt had used weapons of mass destruction (chemical weapons) in its war in Yemen. Israel had every reason to have nukes and not sign a suicide pact even before Iran went Islamist
