Yes it did. IMO it was the best episode of the series, but unfortunately by the time NBC gave the green light most of the cast members were unavailable. Nimoy and Majel Barret were the only ones who remained, with Barret cast in a different role (Number One in The Cage, Nurse Chapel in the series).
She was a PLT. (Pretty Little Thing). Hope to see Mr. Nimoy again.
I call your Sherry Jackson and raise you a Diana Ewing...
I always wondered if the ‘layla’ character and the unrequited love in that episode was the influence behind the name a least for Eric Claptons song. I know the song itself was actually about Patty Harrison, but still I’ve always wondered if that episode had anything to do with the song?
And so long Mr Spock, Mr Nimoy, thank you for the many years of entertainment,
The 60's-influenced attire which was used for the women on the original Star Trek series was simply magnificent.
Combine that with the often smoking-hot actresses, and it was a great bit of frosting on an overall very well-written and ahead-of-its-time show.
Now, as for our poker game: I'm in!
I call Mariette Hartley, Sherry Jackson, and Diana Ewing and raise Leslie Parrish.
The women and their attire were one of the most consistent things about the whole show.
Anybody else playing?
That’s news to me. I was going to mention her, as she had several memorable roles in PERRY MASON and THE TWILIGHT ZONE, two each. The ones I remember (from METV reruns) are her role as a beatnik vixen in The case of the Absent Artist ( also featuring Victor Buono ) and most of all, the nurse and the airline stewardess in the surreal TWENTY TWO episode of TZ. She was in a ton of other stuff too, including three Columbos.
RIP
Yes, and no. You are thinking about minute 32-33. You see him in the background, looking around, not paying attention, when he is supposed to be “in deep trance”.
She was on Hogan’s Heros as well.
Shirley Bonne is a bit of a dark horse. She played Ruth in "Shore Leave" - who apparently featured prominently in Kirk's highlight reel. Shirley was one of the early "supermodels" back then, gracing over 400 magazine covers during the early '60s.
The scene where they tell him how much they’ll pay him to reprise his role for the movies?
Another great episode was “The Doomsday Machine”. The line where Spock says “Vulcans never bluff” is classic!
My favorite episode of all is “The Changeling”.
“Your logic was impeccable. We are in great danger.”
and at the end
“Dazzling display of logic.”
BTW, my three hottest ST bbes were (in no particular order) were Mariette Hartley, Susan Oliver and Grace Whitney (Yeoman Rand).
Spock’s other great line from “The Doomsday Machine” was:
“You tried to destroy it once before, Commodore. The result was a wrecked ship and a dead crew.”
