Long discussion about the meaning of winter, which USA Today cut off on the 18th, and declared THE WARMEST EVER or something close, even though meteorological winter doesn't end until the end of February. It's called quitting while you're ahead.

Thursday and Friday mornings were a global warming +4 degrees at 6:30am. Had 5 inches of global warming fall Monday night & Tuesday morning. Have 1 inch of global warming fall in the last 2 hours and a couple of more inches due during the remainder of today.
All hail global warming and but on an extra set of woolen underwear.

BTW, just for the fun of it I posted this from my Windows phone, which I updated to 8.1 Thursday. The difference between 8 and 8.1 is like upgrading from Win95 to Win7. Every bug, and there were bugs, is gone, and with a tap of an icon I can turn any webpage into a print version. No header. No footer. No ads. Black ink on parchment. It’s lovely. I’m lovin’ it.
Also, happily, Valentine is still alive and has an appointment with a totally different veterinarian Tuesday.

It has started dropping more global warming here in Virginia, schools have been closed since Tues when we got 10 inches of global warming. New record low temperatures, too.

Thank you for posting Joe.

Sadly, some kid is going to see that and “learn” that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. And I doubt Common Core will straighten them out.

South Jersey here.
Looks like the snow has finally caught up to us. We have had the cold, but the warm air from the south have saved us from most of the really bad storms.
Actually not looking forward to when the rain hits us later tonight. I'll drive on snow without too much alarm, but with freezing rain on top of it. Scary stuff.

USA Today is a Gannett rag. They have this Doyle Rice guy, "covering" weather as their, "weather page editor". They print his drivel in all of their many outlets though why a weather report needs an editor shows me that news is not their focus.

And then it hardens overnight and is even more fun to drive on.
