It has been just one month since President Obama visited New Delhi and planted a sacred Peepal tree in the grounds of a Mahatma Gandhi memorial garden.

But now the tree has been reduced to little more than a stick after all the leaves suddenly dropped off, causing panic among nervous officials.

There can be no embarrassment, no matter how slight, in any part of the world, for Emperor Obama.

The Peepal, which is also known as the Bo Tree - 'bo' meaning sacred - grows across India and is revered because it was underneath one of these trees that Buddha gained enlightenment.

I had no idea what type of tree this was, but has this strange sense that it was a type of [cursed] fig tree.

Ficus religiosa or sacred fig is a species of fig native to Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, south-west China and Indochina. It belongs to the Moraceae, the fig or mulberry family. It is also known as the Bo-Tree (from the Sanskrit Bodhi: "wisdom", "enlightened", and as a Sinhalization of this the Sinhala Bo) or [1] Peepal, Peepul, or Pippal (in India and Nepal).[2]

This BOgus POTUS sure is an omen magnet.

Have Indians been peeing on the tree to show their contempt for Obama?

Good Lord! Every article I read from England today needs an editor. “Loose” instead of “lose”? And I am not the grammar police! I’d edit England’s stuff for free if they’d AKS.

No, knot at all. Obama should be ash-amed at his wooden speeches. Obama leaves us pining for real leaders, while ignoring the willow the people. His in-deciduous foreign policy hs left our allies in the larch. It might be oak-ay for some, but not for me.

Time are tough in the media business...editors are now a luxury.

What do Australians call a boomerang that doesn’t return? A stick. (There has to be a link in there somewhere...)

Yeah, the Daily Mail is pretty atrocious in that regard...and their ‘headlines’ are generally ‘head paragraphs’ too long for the FR posting format.

That said, they seem to churn out hundreds of stories each day (so it’s a good source for a quick view of what’s happening in the world) and probably just accept the occasional (err, numerous) errors as a trade-off. (My theory)

Oh, and let me add that the ‘comments’ section is often better than the article itself for entertainment purposes and what people really think (mostly not-left-wing).

Whew! I’m tempted to leave that alone, but must address the root issue. Obama and his buds don’t stand up to the axils of evil. Yet neither other branches, alders, n’orchids have fixed this in the poll o’ nation.
