Everyone knows that Apple had a great fourth quarter and that its most successful product line, the iPhone, is doing better than ever, too.
But it's difficult to grasp what a mind-blowingly successful company Apple is until you take the time to gather and digest news about the company that has emerged in the past week or two.
I've done it. And it has become obvious to me that Apple is not only successful, not only the most successful company in technology, not only the most successful company in the world but the most successful company in the history of companies.
Is that an extreme statement? Maybe. But let me make my case, and we'll see if you disagree.
Here are the 11 ways that Apple is the most successful company in history.
All of these successes add up to Apple clearly being the most successful company in history. No other company has ever made this much money, won on so many fronts or positioned itself to keep on winning.

Yep! That’s Apple for you.
AND ... with Apple being such a successful American company, which people here on Free Republic are all for “business” doing that (... American, free enterprise, extremely successful, happy customers, making a boatload of profit) ... why on earth do you find some FReepers being such rabid, obsessive and totally irrational Apple-haters?!
That is more amazing than Apple being the most successful company in the history of companies!
Having had an Android phone that lasted less than two years because the operating system didn’t update, and all of the apps did which rendered the phone useless, my IPhone 5s is up-to-date as is my IPad 2... Rarely touch my notebook PC anymore...
Might be the huge cult following...
iLOL
History...no. Right now...no doubt. I’d line up any number of energy and transportation companies of the last century. We also don’t know the shelf life. Technology changes quickly. Companies at the top of the game a decade ago are of minimal value today. I see Apple sticking around, but can they continue this level of dominance?
I’m still an Android user. Fact is I have Tracfone. I only pay for what I use. I talk on the phone maybe 60 minutes a month. I don’t text. I use maybe 30 minutes worth of data time searching the net using my Android.
I would buy an IPhone but I am not going to pay Apple $80 a month for my minimal use of their service. When they get something going for those of us who don’t live on the phone, then they will sell even more phones.
Must be. . .
A lot of hyperbole there. is the value normed in any way for inflation?
Carnegie Steel, 475 million back then is 75 billion today.
Apple? 56 Billion.
Carnegie steel utterly changed the infrastructure of the nation, probably to a bigger degree than apple which has numerous acceptable substitutes.
Apple opened China? Wag the dog much?
Fanboy breathless pronouncements aside, apple is a good company. But best in the history of the world? Not so much.
Might be, though they are totally irrelevant to me. Yeah, I bought an Apple 2C sorta laptop thing back in the day. Nothing since. I vote with no dollars.
Why would they want to do that? They can't make enough iPhones to satisfy the demand they have now? Why try to satisfy the bottom of the barrel people where there is no profit. That is where the Android market is for companies who are making ZERO profit. There are only TWO companies in the cellular handset business industry making any money at all, Apple with 93% of the profits and Samsung with 9%. . . and the 233 others with posted losses on the books which allows a 102% profit total.
Apple value is almost $750 Billion. Apple has $178 Billion just in cash on hand.
good points i also use my phone very little. We.... are an anomaly. I work in downtown Los Angeles and on my walk from the train to my office every day, I see thousands of people. It is almost as if i am walking in a human version of a line of ants. Everyone except me, it seems, is walking and either looking at a cell phone or listening, texting or talking..and I even include the walking wounded, the poor or insane in that..(free Obama phones- most likely with them).. I do use my phone, but I am not tethered to it.. So again, my point is that we are outliers.. we are outside the norm, and they probably don’t feel there is profit to be made on our group. and i agree, i hate paying that ATT tab for the amount i use this smart phone.. I did try the Walmart Straight-Talk phone, and did not care for the connect ability.. cheers ....its nice to hear from a kindred spirit out there!
I’m very stubborn and Conservative. Many friends admonished me to switch my computer to Apple, and for years I resisted.
I finally relented and now I can say they were right.
I’m not a huge fanboy, but sorry, PC’s break down fast.
I have beaten the cr*p out of my Apple for a very long time, and it appears not to have noticed.
!!! Using Apple products cures cancer !!!
And how much of that cash is yours? None? So don’t you feel stupid being their cheerleader? Unless you are being paid to steal FR’s bandwidth using FR as an Apple blog.
