During a heated discussion over gay marriage, CNN morning Anchor Chris Cuomo opined that the unalienable rights endowed to all Americans do not come from God.
Cuomo was debating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage. Near the end of the back-and-forth and after Moore argued that rights cannot be handed down by men, Cuomo blurted out:
“Our rights do not come from God, your honor, and you know that. They come from man... That’s your faith, that’s my faith, but that’s not our country. Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise.”

What shocking ignorance. If they come from man, they are not rights at all. They’re just arbitrary “permissions”, to be granted or revoked by those in power, be they in the majority or no.
I guess the people in North Korea would be criminals if they took up arms and overthrew their leaders. Especially if it could be determined that the majority of North Koreans prefer living in chains.
IF LAWS COME FROM MAN, POSITIVE RIGHTS DICTATE THAT MAN CAN OPPRESS HIS NEIGHBOR FOR ANY REASON, PROVIDED HE IS THE GOVERNMENT.
But who are liberals to understand this very basic point that stands at the foundation of American politics?
No, their alleged "rights" don't come from God, but are decreed, against the laws of nature and all that is held decent, by human tribunals.

I make this argument with liberals all the time. It makes their head explode:
If you want to know if God gives you the right to do a thing, try to do it. If you are successful, he has given you the right to do it. However, there may be consequences. E.G. try to kill someone. Now jump in a lake with a rock tied to your ankle and try to breathe at the bottom. You’ll find that you have the God given right to do one, but not the other.
But what of rights men give me, and what gives them the authority to grant me such rights? And what is the penalty for violating man’s rules if I don’t get caught?
