Brett Favre's advice for Peyton Manning

Retired NFL great Brett Favre has some advice for current NFL great Peyton Manning who is considering whether or not to retire before next season. “I think the numbers he’s put up the last few years are staggering. Can he do that again? I guess that’s a question these teams have to ask if he chooses to play.”

“Initially he said this is gonna be a quick decision and it hasn’t been so quick,” said Favre. No one knows better than the NFL great how tough it is to decide to retire following a legendary career. The multiple-MVP quarterback is known for his career with the Green Bay Packers. After he made the decision to retire in 2008, he changed his mind and filed to be re-instated. He then went to play for the New York Jets for a year, told the team he was retiring and was released. The next year he played for the Packers’ NFC rival – the Minnesota Vikings (and led them to a division championship and was a game away from making it back to the Super Bowl).

He’s had a great run. He should thank the Bronco’s and bow out gracefully.
I really like the guy and would hate to watch him get hurt, or just plain old suck.

I bet he could be a good backup for many years but probably would refuse the job.

Peyton doesn't need Brett's advice.

Peyton was banged up at the end of last season and I think he just wants to see how his body feels after he heals. There's also a change in coaching staff and obviously he wants to know what kind of offense will be installed.

He’s still a great regular season QB.

From a pure, signal-calling, quarterback position - Peyton Manning is the best, hands-down. Even Brady admitted that Manning was better than him.

Yep. If Peyton’s body is up to it I’d love to have him come back for another season.

"To thine own self be true"

Manning and Favre are my favorite present day QB's.

If Peyton thinks he can play and the Broncos don't have a QB better than him then I say do what ya love bro!

At this point in his life, he's already a hall of famer and has nothing more to prove and if he continues to play and compete then it's for the love of the game...........I can understand that.

I bet he could be a good backup for many years but probably would refuse the job.Z

Not to mention the pay cut. ;~))

Seriously, from what I saw on the field this season, the guy has at least another season in him, if not more.

I guess the question gets down to does he want to do it, and do the Broncos want to keep paying him to do it.

I no longer keep up with the NFL. I did see him in one of the last games of the season, not even sure why I watched that one.

Anyway he did not look sharp at all but I also noticed his receivers were not getting open which was probably most of it.

Yes. Peyton was apparently playing hurt against the Colts.

Guess he didn't want to tip his hat at the time to being injured.

At the top of his game, without an injury, he'd have beaten them.

If he feels 100% by training camp 2015, give it another shot.

If NOT, hang them up, soldier.

You have done well.

Come playoff time Peyton’s body is broken down due to age and previous injuries. So what’s the point in continuing to play if he can’t finish the season? And he’ll be a year older next season so it’s not like things will get any better for him.

He's a great quarterback, simply amazing to watch. When he's on, it's as if he's toying with the other team like a cat with their prey.

He does have a chink in his armor: His play in important, pressure filled games, mostly playoff games, has not been just inconsistent, but on the far side of average.

It's there he has had problems. The reason he'll never be considered any differently than Marino. Great stats, owns all the records, but he could rarely step it up when it counted the most.

It will be interesting to see what he decides. I will be sad which ever way he goes. One bad hit, and it's a problem at his age, he's not getting any younger; but who wouldn't love to see one more good year from him?

My advice to Mr. Manning, take the 8 figures the networks are going to pay you to have fun every Sunday while sitting at a desk.
