I have had Comcast for about 35 years. Well, when I moved here a few years ago, I had a problem with the cable connection. They sent someone out the next day, fixed it and said the cable wiring had not been updated. No other problems. Love xfinity.
I honestly found their cable and internet service pretty darned reliable. You have to play the negotiation game after your initial offer runs out, as someone above mentioned, because your rates are going to jump a lot. Also, I don’t know why anyone would ever have a land line...nobody calls except telemarketers.
FWIW, I dumped Comcast when I heard they refused to air any commercials from gun or ammo manufacturers, about two years ago. I don’t know if it was even TRUE, but they’re damn sure run by libs. HBO seems to push the gay agenda constantly as well, and Comcast pushes HBO.
Thanks. I have found that on many computer phone prompts if it asks what your issue is, if you say “customer service” or “ need service tech” or the like a lot of times it’ll cut through the BS and send you to a human. Works with ATT and Directv anyway.
One time, the Internet outage was for several days. It turned out that some worker mistakenly climbed the pole outside my home on the sidewalk and shut off my Internet. There was no late payment involved or anything, the technician simply erred, I was informed.
If you use Comcast storage for images, pages, or other web based items then you simply must be proficient in navigating their labyrinth like access pages which are largely unsupported.
Once upon a time it was a breeze to put up an image and then link to it for sharing on Free Republic. These days for years now it is almost impossible. I have not shared an image on FR now since this became an issue. I was a much more frequent poster 6-8 years ago.
Overall the service has deteriorated and some of the very fun features such as image galleries have been eliminated. The price never goes down, but the product really does diminish.
If you are OK with being on hold and being run around with representatives who require the same info over and over between invoking the ‘hold’ button, then Comcast is probably OK.
I begrudge them every cent I’m forced to hand over. Used to have them for cable and internet. Lots of interruptions and price increases. Dumped them for cable and now LOVE Direct TV. Still stuck with them for internet and this arrangement saves me $40 a month -for better service/more channels- than Comcast providing both.
That “no contract” deal works both ways. They raise your rates at will.
On the other hand lots of people manipulate the eternal introductory offer by calling to cancel when that period expires. Comcast ALWAYS offers to extend it with whatever offer is applicable. Too much work if you ask me
.
I can confirm all that has been said about comcast; I was with them for 12 years because I swore I would never go with ATT again, my frustration level with comcast got so bad I switched, that was two years ago and I have been very happy; of course I’m coming up to the end of our two year agreement so we will see what happens.
My plan is (you might want to try this) to call ATT and tell them comcast has a much better offer, cheaper, no contract etc and ask them why I should not switch to comcast; they will most likely continue our current deal or even sweeten it a bit; they hate to lose anyone to the competition. Also concast’s contract is really a no contract-contract; you will be asked to sign here, here, and here... buyer beware.
Call Verison they will probably work with you, but comcast will be your worst nightmare, I could write a book.
Because they are in the MEDIA business and push their twisted views to millions of people every chance they get.
Even worse service than Verizon?
I’ve had Comcast triple play for years now. I’ve never had to make a service call. The internet service is fast and with Wi-Fi (extra $7 a month for a router) I can stay connected pretty much anywhere I go with my cell phone or tablet.
TV service is OK, although Verizon FIOS is supposedly better. FIOS isn’t available where I live or I’d give it a try. Still, Comcast offers plenty of Hi-Def channels(extra $10 a month),great for live sports.
On the downside, you’ll get a ton of channels you’ll probably never watch but you still pay for. MSNBC, al-Jazera, crap like that. Too bad cable isn’t ala carte, that would be ideal.
Aside from their rotten politics at the national level, I have few complaints.
Worse than the California DMV?
I have never used Comcast cable TV. So, I have no opinion on that.
But, I’ve had their cable internet for about 10 years and the service has been excellent. Plenty fast and virtually zero down time. They took over from Roadrunner, which seemed to have an outtage every other week, often for days at a time.
What did I say about executives?
But since you bring it up, when the "crappy liberals" inject their liberalism into the programming it becomes a problem.
Because of liberal executives, detestable racists like Al Sharpton have TV shows.
By itself, this might not be reason enough to eschew Comcast, but along with the other issues people have raised, Comcast gets no money from me.
So I wonder how ATT is going to respond to this? Had Uverse for a year and liked it, with good customer service, but the internet speeds SUCKED. I could only get 25Mbps total to the house to split between 4 HD tv’s and the internet, which included x box, several tablets, and streaming tv’s. Not good. But they paid me $400 in rebates to do it for a year.
After the year was up, I switched back to Cox. I now have full HD to every tv, plus 100Mbps download speeds. Those are legitimate speeds too. I have clocked several times with my router and through torrents.
There is no where in Okc where ATT can provide more than 32Mbps service right now, so I will stick with Cox for the foreseeable future.
I’ve heard mixed reviews of ATT (yours being one of the only positives I’ve heard). Several co-workers have them, they absolutely hate ATT, but won’t switch to Comcast because of the known CS issues Comcast has.
FWIW I’ve never been an ATT customer.
We have the net ,phone and cable. We are extremely happy with all 3
Better than Charter Communications, which is more of a scam artist than a cable provider.
Yes, DSL has physical limitations mainly due to distance to the phone company central office. FIOS or fiber optic is a joke because all the fiber terminates to copper in someones home. Copper just throttles it back down to what cable gives you. Now if you had fiber through your house that would be awesome but that would require special NIC’s and fiber cable pulls. It’s coming...1Gps will be slow in the near future.
Nastiest worst company ever. I can’t post what I really think of them. Obama plays golf with the CEO of this foul company.
That says all anyone needs to know.
