CLEVELAND -- Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel entered treatment on Wednesday, adviser Brad Beckworth told ESPN.com through a Manziel spokesman.

Johnny Manziel has entered treatment to work on "areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate," according to a spokesperson. "Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step," Beckworth said.

BTW: We have a family friend that owns a condo just above Manzel’s, and yes, it is in a penthouse above.

I wish him the best as I would wish anyone the best if they sought out treatment for drugs/alcohol. Hopefully, this can be a change for him (not only in his profession but his health/mental well being/etc).

I saw this coming too. But I wish him well.

Dittos. How he handles this is the real key.

Early retired at age 53. Now selling Real Estate for friends and family. What does that have to do with whether or not Manziel ends up selling used cars in Tyler Texas or not?

A wasted draft choice.

When I am in “The Rooms”, at the end of the meetings during the Lord’s prayer, I always say “and deliver us from ego”. A few others have picked up on it and say the same thing.

He had "counseling" at A&M.

At the age of 19 he walked home after his first start and 4 weeks later he needed a police escort.

He was a football player, not a rock star, who was treated like a rock star. He went to Houston Rockets basketball games and the pros wanted a picture with him!

It took a toll. As he said during the Heisman year, "I'm not doing anything I haven't always done, (going to ball games) but before, nobody cared." He had $$$ and he had always gone to pro games.

I'm glad he's getting help.

He needs ego-reduction surgery, along with a humility implant.

My first thought was 'I didn't know there was a Jerks Anonymous.'

All snarky-ness aside, I wish him well in whatever treatment he is undertaking. To this point, I have never been a fan of his but I don't want to see him self-destruct either.

Or, back to his grandfather's original plan...law school and into the family business.

He's probably good enough to be a pro golfer...with practice. He's really good.

He's proof that awarding the Heisman to a freshman is a bad idea.

He's proof of absolutely nothing regarding the Heisman, except that it goes to talented college football players.

Okay, the draft chart is being filled up.

Great college quarterbacks who didn’t stick as great NFL quarterbacks.

Round 1:

Johnny Manziel (berowns)

Round 2:

Tim Tebow (Broncos/Jets/Pats)

Round 3:

Eric Crouch (Rams/Dolphins)

All three are the scramble type of QB. Someone will have to come up with an NFL scheme to make use of this unutilized talent.

Also Danny Weurffel.

Both Heisman winners from Florida, both upstanding people, and both lackluster in the NFL.

For Honorable Mention, we can add Heisman runner-up Rex Grossman.
