The rest of the NFL should do what the Bills did; Go Gault and eliminate the squads. I grew up in NY and both NFL teams did not have squads until the J-E-T-S finally succumbed. Cheerleaders are for college not the professionals with the exception of the Cowgirls.

I used to think women in power might make things less crazy. Wrong answer McFry.

As a Giants fan I’m not surprised; at least we get to watch football. What are Jets fans supposed to watch?

The lions use high school cheerleaders, and have different schools every week..

I remember when the Giants were so bad for so long that the fans preferred to stand outside the stadium watching their tickets burn instead of the sorry Joe Piscarcik show inside.

Oh, they’ve had their low points - but in my lifetime they won four Super Bowls, while the Jets haven’t won any. I hear that they won a Super Bowl a long time ago, but that was before my time...

The Jets wanted them, but couldn’t have them in Giants Stadium for whatever reason. Then they somehow worked out having “fly girls”. And then they got their new home.

In my opinion cheerleaders are useless in the NFL. Why? The vast majority of fans are too far away to see and hear them in giant NFL stadiums. They don’t lead cheers the way high school and college cheerleaders do. What exactly is their purpose? Eye candy??

I hate to agree with this woman, but she is correct. NFL Cheerleaders deserve benefits and decent pay. It's weird that this didn't come up with all of the stuff about treatment of women by NFL players.
If the NFL were serious about women's equality, the cheerleaders would be paid as much as practice squad members. And they'd be full-time employees of the team, in public relations and in setting policies that affect families and women.

Good idea.
The New York Giants never had cheerleaders for all the years I watched them at the Meadowlands. Do they have them now?

I grew up a Rams fan in a Giants household. The Giants low point lasted nearly 20 years, tied with the Eagles. George Young made all the difference), even more than Parcells.
I greatly appreciate the two Giants wins over the evil Pats, and like the Giants a lot more than the Jets, and the NFC more than the AFC. Do keep in mind that the Steelers were losers for over 30 years before they had their dynasty in the '70s and have been more than a little competitive since.
As a presently suffering Rams fan, I'd rather the cheerleaders go away, and leave them for the Cowboys, also known as Hooters' Team.

If you noticed how skimpier and skimpier the uniforms have gotten yes 100% pure eye candy. I remember when Roslyn Carter called out the Redskins cheerleaders back in during the Carter administration for skimpy outfits. The Skins changed the uniforms. The uniforms today would make the ones Roslyn upset about look downright Victorian.

Fire them all and ask for volunteers. Or just eliminate the jiggle-and-giggle girls entirely.

I would agree with you, but I think there's an arrangement with these cheerleaders that's different from an employer-employee relationship.
Years ago I worked with an NBA team on the arrangements for their cheerleader tryouts during one off-season (it's a long story). I got the impression that these were aspiring actresses and models who saw their cheerleading as a way to get some free publicity.

If this becomes law I hope my Chargers get rid of the cheerleaders. That is what the late Gene Klein did years ago when some of the Charger cheerleaders caused controversy by posing in Playboy.
