Loretta Lynch, in Confirmation Hearing, Defends Legality of Obama Immigration Action

Loretta E. Lynch, the nominee to become attorney general, on Wednesday defended the legality of President Obama’s immigration policy at the start of a confirmation hearing in which the new Republican-controlled Judiciary Committee promised tough questions.

Republicans have been particularly critical of the president’s decision last year to unilaterally ease the threat of deportation for millions of unauthorized immigrants. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. approved the legal justification for that action.

Some Republicans have said Ms. Lynch’s views on the subject will determine their votes, and Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the new Republican chairman of the committee, led the hearing with a question on the topic.

Ms. Lynch said she had read the Justice Department’s legal opinions and added, “I don’t see any reason to doubt the reasonableness of those views.”

Whoo Hoo! She's actually saying the unconstitutional thing rather than the mealy mouth thing she should have to get confirmed.

Instead the Senators have something real to chew on and she may not get confirmed because Senators don't like the thought of loosing their power.

“Loretta Lynch defended the legality of President Obama’s immigration policy”

If the Senate shows rare good judgement and rejects her Loretta can always hire on as Jeb Bush’s immigration advisor.

“The Department of Justice issued guidance making it clear that no state can authorize violations of federal law...”

Colorado.
Marijuana.

DOJ acts when it wants to. Or not.

We have no laws anymore. We just have powerful people.

I wonder if she would agree that a President can order an AG not to enfore any civil rights laws as a matter of prosecutorial discretion?

Make a list, and put on it, any republican who votes for her.

Then in the future keep publishing that list and keep reminding people that no one who’s name appears on that list should ever again receive a vote from us at election time.

I suppose comrade obama can keep holder indefinitely as long as he keeps submitting replacement AG candidates for approval that are totally unacceptable.

“If the Republicans had any balls, they would reject her.
But sadly, I don’t think the Republicans will do anything.”

Because they agree with it.

Remember, were all racists to Linda Graham.

Is there any Pubbie that has the BALLS to say, “She is not qualified to be AG because:

“The current administration provides cabinet nominations solely based on race and gender; they do not consider the person’s understanding of the constitution neither their previously exposed record regarding the same. Their desire is to have the nominee approved based entirely on “melanin content” and “genitalia” such that, if not approved, they can claim bias on the part of congress. The US Senate will not be held captive to such a-political constraints in “advise and consent”.

Yeah...didn’t think so.
