For more than a decade, Tom Brady has established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, one of the sport’s most popular and respected players. On Wednesday, Brady may have jeopardized his credibility for good.
Like Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Brady denied having anything to do with footballs being deflated in the AFC Championship Game and denied knowing it had occurred until the next day, but to the quarterback’s former peers, the NFL’s golden boy lost some of the luster he had earned in his 15-year career.
“I did not believe what Tom had to say,” former quarterback and ESPN analyst Mark Brunell said.

I’ve listened to a few of the Pats players responding to a little of the mild trash talk coming out of the Seamonkeys.
To a man - they sound as though they are seething. All very courteous and professional - but the undertones are there. They aren’t mad at the Seamonkeys - they don’t care about them. They care about going out and proving a point.
These guys are going to make Charles Jefferson’s romp over Lincoln High look like a picnic.
Hard to take the charge serious when the NFL doesn’t really seem to care. There’s apparently no rush to talk to anyone especially the players of the QB on either team. There’s no accountability in the handling of the balls anytime after the 2hrs or so before the game when they are inspected and the rules are pretty lay everything on the officials on the field when it comes to the balls used.
If this was truly a “big deal” resolving any future occurrences could be put to bed in a few seconds. 1 ball throughout the game. Problem solved.

We only had one ball when we were kids. Our play often ended when the owner said he had to go and took his ball with him.
Over inflated for sure!
If there was an issue, they’d have been screaming during the game.
Balls constantly lose air. Who can tell the diff between 10 PSI and 12 PSI?
The Seahawks don’t have the national appeal of the Packers.
What they have now - is a huge controversy and a second story line to add drama. People that don’t understand football, and/or don’t care about the teams involved will now be sure to tune in and watch.

You're right, if it was an real issue, the opposing team would have said something during the game.
But my meme is intended to say that this is much to do about nothing. We got bigger problems in this country.
You mixed Farenheit with Celsius in your calculation of the temperature change. If you use consistent units, the change is lower (i.e., if you use Kelvin/Celsius, you don’t have 49 and 72— you have (17*5/9) for the 49, and 40*5/9 for the 72. THat is 49 degrees F is (0 +(49-32)*5/9) in the other scale.
At that low of a PSI, you should be able to tell. Once the ball gets hard enough, it becomes much more difficult to tell. They’re discussing 11 vs 13. At 10 it’s pretty rigid. Even a basketball is only 8, and it’s larger and round. More rigid, is...more rigid.
Assuming the ball would survive, do you really think you could tell between an 11 and a 13 PSI volleyball by squeezing it with one hand? They’d both be rocks...and crushing isn’t exactly a normal volleyball motion.

Noted in 196. Acknowledged in 200. Actually the formula uses Kevin, not Celsius.
For 49 F you would have K = 5/9 * (F-32) + 273 (approximately).

I still doubt that he can tell to .1 psi. Besides, the volley ball will vary at playing conditions quite a bit more than .1 psi. He must be a very busy ref ...
My guess is that Brady asked his ball boys to submit low or under-inflated balls. The ball boy probably didn't measure the pressure with a gauge and neither dd the ref. Unless the balls were obviously underinflated, who would check?
