Fedgov will eventually figure out how to completely loot what’s left of your SS check. And the 401 for that matter.

Good luck.

I can’t even imagine a grocery bill like that, but then again, I am a bachelor that lives a pretty spartan lifestyle.

When I go shopping, I go to the Aldi and end up with enough ingredients to make five good meals for twenty bucks. Of course, if you are feeding a family, and buying precooked stuff, and brand name, you are going to burn through that cash fast.

Yeah, but God forbid the little guys might make a sliver of profit by doing so.

Nope, they had to make a law against it, so that we can’t even recoup a tiny bit of the inflationary destruction they heap on our wealth every year.

If he was saving them for that long he probably lost out on the collectors’ value of a lot of them.

I am smart enough that I have never planned to see a penny of SS in my lifetime (unless I decide to game the system and get some SSDI like the scavengers).

However, if they touch my 401k, it’s on. I have no qualms about saying publicly that, in that circumstance, I would view the government as fair game and rob them right back, any way I could.

That’s why we eliminated the penny a couple of years ago. Stores round up/down, nobody cares.

But not smart enough to stop them from looting it. ☺

I save all my pennies dated 1981 or earlier. They wind up in jars.

The oldest one in my change was from 1910.

He goofed.

Pre-1959 pennies tend to be in demand. He could have put up an add and gotten way more.

Well, even the smartest people in the country haven’t figured out how to do that yet, so I don’t feel too bad on that count.

There is an easy way to do it. But it will take most people getting a belly full of being looted and having the guts to stop it.

Canada has pretty much eliminated their penny because it cost more to mint than it was worth. There are still some strays around and they are still legal tender but since it has stopped being minted and those in circulation are being turned in the cent is going the way of the dodo bird.

Right, it isn’t going to take brains, just guts and nerve, which we seem to be lacking lately.

The value of a 1909 S VDB penny is around $700-800 in Good condition, and upwards of $1,800-2,000 Uncirculated.

An Alabama service station owner saved 4-1/2 tons of pennies over 38 years.

I think Coinstar takes 7 cents on the dollar when you feed it pennies.

I think you can get a gift card instead and they don’t take a cut from that.

Me too. I won’t take any pennies in change. Nickels, dimes and quarters go in a change bowl, but I never leave the house with any change in my pockets.

Ate a restaurant in Denver last week with my daughter. Everything on the menu was in even dollar amounts. No dimes. No quarters. Just single numbers like 4, 7, and 12. They must have saved a barrel of ink.

Our currency is LONG OVERDUE for a devaluation of 100.

Wheat pennies were made 1952-1958, and can be sold for 2-5 cents each without even selecting better dates or conditions.
