Is Pizza As Bad For Kids As Sugary Drinks?
CBS San Francisco ^ | January 19, 2015 | Julie Watts

(CBS SF) — A new study finds kids are gobbling up pizza at an alarming rate.

The Journal of Pediatrics study found nearly a quarter of all American kids are eating pizza on any given day and that pizza makes up nearly a quarter of their calories.

The study found kids and teens are getting more calories from pizza than anything else they eat — besides dessert.

For many, it’s a wake-up call to reevaluate how parents feed their kids.

Would just LOVE to see a pizza tax or even pizza ban ballot item, because it would be delightful to see how they would define a pizza vs other non-pizza food items, and then watch food vendors circumvent that definition if too narrow, or see other non-targeted foods accidentally taxed/banned if too broad.

For example, if pizza is defined as open-faced, then just slap two pizzas together face to face and call it a calzone. Or if pizza is defined as having tomato sauce, then just used crushed tomatoes instead.

Hey there’s a thought. So at what temperature do you bake it?

I am glad they are still going. When I worked out of Tidewater, Virginia, I used to eat their “bunch of lunch” regularly.

I live in the Florida Panhandle and I don’t think there ever was any around here.

Oh, Sky. I have it simply as a dessert to the pizza. :-)

What is needed is a tobogganing party where pizza is served. That would make a LOT of nanny heads explode.

Depends on the pizza I guess. Thin crust, real cheese, real tomato sauce, some veggies, and good quality meat toppings — this seems pretty healthy. Of course, there’s lots of low quality junk out there.

Ah, well there ya go I'm on the west coast, Orange County, CA. and I guess there is still a big market for their bunch of lunch buffet though they are west coast, predominantly Ca. but surprisingly they have quite a few locations in Mexico. How nice that the imigrants can find something familiar when the cross the border!

“it’s a wake-up call to reevaluate how parents feed their kids.”
But not to reevaluate what EBT pays for. No, the media throws out a distraction to protect it’s advertising..

Hard working families forced to buy colas, sweets, and pizzas to ruin the health of the slackers kids- that’s socialism at it’s finest!

How parents feed their kids? I thought the State fed the kids nowadays ( free school breakfasts, free school lunches, free school dinners coming now, free food stamps anyway even though they’re getting free meals at school. Incidentally, what’s a “parent,” anyway? The D policies have chased just about all the fathers out of their homes with the predictable results of kids roving the streets and malls in hoodlum gangs. And if the Moms aren’t even supposed to feed their kids, then what’s a “parent?” Some sort of old fashioned quaint concept?

For crying out loud, what next. A slice of pizza has vegetables, fruit,
(if you consider tomatoes to be a fruit), dairy, carbohydrates, meat, heart
healthy olive oil, garlic and onions.

Pizza has a healthy balance of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fiber.
Many kids like it and so do many parents.

Oh well. Common sense took a nose dive into a rock quarry pond and hasn't recovered since Obama was elected.

I was told to avoid eating thing bigger than your head.

Fortunately it was the 70’s and long hair was in. I had thick curly hair that made my head look huge.

My friends told me you can order a pizza as big as you want.

I told myself “They really don’t think your head is that big, they just want some of my pizza.
