Surely you jest.

Have you never seen “The Wackiest Ship in the Army?”

Oh and by the way, nice post. Well done.

“when the movie ended in a packed theatre, a few people, me included, were drying eyes, but the theatre was absolutely silent and stayed that way. no one moved for a while then the whole theatre silently filed out.”

Well written and quite succinct. You don’t need to say more.

You paint such a good picture there.

I hardly ever go see movies anymore.

Your description above is so captivating that I wonder if I want to have such emotions with a bunch of random people also at a movie theater.

We’ve got a lot of Chris Kyle/Clint Eastwood haters roaming the board today. A lot of them are upset about a fake fight mentioned in the book supposedly between Kyle and some guy who made a living participating in fake fights on TV.

Wasn't "Kelly's Heroes" the greatest war movie ever made (and a young Clint Eastwood even played the main character in that one!)?

:-P

I felt like a fly on the wall, watching Kyle’s life unfold, rather than sitting in a movie theater thinking, “Hey that’s Bradley Cooper.” I was completely pulled in.

Is there any sniping in the movie? The previews I’ve seen only show him talking to his wife on the phone.

Me thinks Chris got Breitbarted by order that came from the top. If nothing else I hope Chris’ wife and children are set for life from a $$$$ cut of this movie. I know Eastwood would never ever let her down. All is good for the Kyle family now, financially.

“The Big Red One” was a very good war movie and some what underrated because it didn’t pull in big numbers at the box office.

Mmmmm no. It’s a good movie. But it’s no Patton, Bridge Over the River Kwai, Bridge too Far, Tora Tora Tora, Das Boot, Longest Day... There’s a lot of pretty darn awesome war movies out there.

Patton, Gettysburg, Das Boot, Run Silent Run Deep, Fury, and on and on.

I haven't been to a movie theater since the last century and I don't expect American Sniper to change that, although I do look for ward to the DVD or pay for you.

Since you started a list of great war movies, let's not forget The Longest Day, Bridge Over the River Kwai, The Sands of Iwo Jima, Platoon, Gunga Din, To Hell and Back, and Apocalypse Now.

I take you back to when the Iraq War was being fought, and our servicemen were in danger. The Hollywood left came out with one anti-war movie after another. (For example I offer Susan Sarandon's In the Valley of Elah).
Each and every one of these movies failed at the box office.

Clint Eastwood is a national treasure.

I haven’t seen the movie yet but did they include the event that occurred in January, 2009 where he claims he shot and killed two men who were trying to hijack his truck at a gas station along Hwy 67 outside of Dallas?
