Is Jameis Winston Worth the Trouble?
SI ^ | December 23, 2014 | Greg A. Bedard

There’s so much to like about Winston—his strength, playmaking and toughness—but his off-field behavior is so distressing. Should he declare for the NFL draft, the FSU quarterback will be subjected to a predraft background check that will make last year’s scrutiny of Johnny Manziel look like a casual glance

Don Brown had just spent an hour inside the Boston College defensive film room, dissecting the performance of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston in their Nov. 22 game in Tallahassee. Brown, 59, has been a college defensive coordinator or a head coach since 1984. He’s been in charge of defenses in the ACC and the Big East for the past six years. Basically, Brown, who coined the “Be a dude” mantra that has popularized Steve Addazio’s program on the recruiting trails, has coached and defended a bunch of dudes in his time.

With the current draft order both Tennessee and Tampa Bay are the top 2 picks. Both need QBs. So once again have a Manning-Leaf, Luck-Girffin type draft.

Winston will do real fine in the National Felons League.

There’s lots of time to “**** her right in the *****” there too.

He’s already a criminal-rapist!

Why would any team worth their salt invest millions in that low IQ thug?

He’ll be in prison within 5 years....

not worth the trouble, especially in this day and age in the NFL... he would be suspended so many times...

Hard to tell with QBs, if he'll be worth the imaturity. Nobody wants another Vince Young or Ryan Leaf.

The crab leg thing would be the only incident concerning to me.

The other two incidents involve a false rape charge and using dirty language, which are manufactured controversies.

The contrast between him and Mariota is staggering. I can barely wait for the Rose Bowl. Ducks baby.

Don’t know if that type of offense is conducive to pro play. I remember the last high draft pick QB from Oregon....

Yep, worth the risk. Got the physical tools, very fast study, learns the playbook in no time and analyses film well. Competitive, never gives up and a team leader.

700+passes 6 interceptions. That could work in the NFL, right?

I think the Noles will keep it close. They've been behind in the 4th quarter all year, so it's not like being down a few late in the game will be a new experience.

The only Oregon game I saw all year was Arizona, so I don't know how good they are. But there is the traditional difficulty Heisman Trophy winners have in National Championship games, including Jameis last year, where the Noles were behind for most of the game.

I'm pretty sure teams that throw the ball 50+ times per game normally lose in the NFL.

Also, Pac12 secondaries are not NFL secondaries.

Did you see Johnny Football play the other day? He learned that lesson pretty quick.

Does Mariota run outside the pocket a lot?

I read all 230 pages of testimony and evidence.

He is not a rapist.

Add to it that the “victim” had an InstaGram account with the name “FSUCleatChaser” (or something close to that) and that her lawyer is her aunt and that they told Jameis early on that for $7.5 million it could all go away, and that there are many photos of the “victim” and Jameis being chummy together before and after the “rape”, it becomes VERY clear that the only thing Jameis is guilty of is a lack of judgement regarding who he takes to bed.
