Correction:
Like the remake of Ironsides with Denzel Washington Blair Underwood. IIRC, it got pulled after about 5 episodes.

Some of the “steampunk” stuff in that movie really was pretty cool, but they flubbed it by trying to make it “Men in Black in the Old West”.

it is a racist movie, based on a facade of wholesomeness, with a main character with a vocal recorded history of being a racist.

Maybe this Afirmative Action Annie will crash and burn at the Box Office—might have worked in 2008 or 2009—but not now—White Guilt will not force people to watch this turkey—and it will not make money internationally. It was a bad idea from the get go.

I’ll try anything once...twice if I like it...

I saw a novel in a bookstore a few years ago, by a black woman writer, called The Wind Done Gone, which was a retelling of Gone With the Wind from the perspective of one of the slaves at Tara.Don't know if anyone has tried to turn it into a movie, but they would have a starting point for the script.
The eternal copyright in this country has allowed the mitchell estate to suppress "The Wind Done Gone"

I think it will make more than that. It actually looks cute. I will take my kids to see it. Why not? It is nice to have family movies even if they are black....shutter.

Sarah Jessica Parker's one and only good performance...
But who's that girl with her arm around Sarah's neck?

Agree. Not much sentiment, these days, for AAA...starring racist Jamie Foxx.

Why is there some need to remake old TV shows and movies, but remake them to be politcally correct???By stripping out Harold Gray's conservative (anti-New Deal) politics from Annie, the whole thing was made politically correct long ago.

Im white as snow and I enjoyed The Barbershop. Maybe Hollywood should try a white cast remake.

Its the liberal mindset. They cant just watch an old movie or show and say this is great. They watch it and say this is great, but it would be better if there was more diversity, or if gender roles were more fairly represented, etc. White males go to the back of the rocket ship.
Reminds me of the forced diversity in all advertising (and in corporate "careers" graphics on their websites). If you see a white person these days, it may be the female member of the team.
Where'd all the white men go?
Fathers are notably absent in many tv ads too (single mothers and kids, if dad appears, he's a helpless fool. During the Superbowl ads a year or two ago, a confident (stunt driving) woman handled the car always regardless of how many people were in the car.
There comes a point at which the "diversity" denies other people a role.

If it’s like the Burroughs’ (Tarzan) estate, they will try to trademark a literary character (which is a strained legal contortion).

Such a stupid movie - the previews alone made me gag.
Thank God the Obama let's-put-a-black-face-on-everything is coming to an end.

I don’t care how they remake it, but i wonder if the reviews are bad because the child playing Annie can’t carry the role? The previews I saw on TV didn’t seem like she was convincing, altho she certainly is a cute child. That could be part of the problem.
To: midnightcat
Maybe they should have called it, “Aneequa.”
