His debut, this past weekend, was just about as disastrous as it could have been. But was it a more disastrous debut than that of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace?
Lets go to the tape:

I liked what his coach said.
He looked like a rookie and played like a rookie..
They're just giving him some playing time to get a head start on next season. Makes it tough for the fans to watch, though.

Other than Jar Jar and maybe killing off Darth Maul, Phantom wasn’t all that bad.
Howie Manziel OTOH, made it clear Jar Jar would be a better QB.

I think PM made a huge fortune and created a lot of new characters. My daughter loved it. I have come to like it more for all it accomplished. Much more than the next 2.
JM on the other hand had a bad debut in real terms.

Manziel’s supporting cast did not help out very much. Terrible game from the entire team.

True, and face it, Cincinnati’s defense was super fired up.....tired of hearing about Manziel’s debut and so on. Once all this settles down, he’ll do fine.

I’m a big Aggie fan ... but I must admit that Johnny’s debut on the NFL stage was about as exciting and awe-inspiring as Geraldo Rivera’s opening of Al Capone’s secret vault (in the ancient past).

However bad Johnny has it, it can’t be half as bad as living in College Station.

After the Mingo penalty JM was forced into risk taking for the entire game. Not too different from Montana’s and Aikman’s first starts.

Other than Jar Jar and maybe killing off Darth Maul, Phantom wasnt all that bad.
Main character Anakin in the movie was a cross between Nicholas on Eight is Enough and Will Robinson on Lost in Space. Okay, he's got the Force, so he can take some rocks and some Tatooine twine and a couple of rusty droids and make a pod racer better than anyone else on the planet, maybe in the galaxy. Okay . . . . .
Also, we really didn't need his mum trying to maintain that there was no dad, that's dicey territory, and made me and a lot of other people uncomfortable. It doesn't even help the backstory, but is rather a distraction. Jar Jar is just a side show compared to these central problems.

I loved living in College Station. By far, my favorite place to live. I’m hoping to retire there!
You are a short drive to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas.
You have Broadway plays and other cultural events at A&M and don’t have to mess with driving. There are restaurants and other activities.
And it is cheap (compared to where I live now in California).

Who will make it to their next national champion ship game?
The Browns or the Cubs?

(This is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion or satire; or both.)
To: BenLurkin
Both were bad.
And if you consider how the follow up films were even worse, just imagine how badly things can go from here for manziel.

I remember Troy Aikman was a disaster his first two years. I think he lost all but one game his first year?

The Browns or the Cubs?Offered a pick of those two, I would have to go with the Browns... ;-)
