Shortly before taking his own life last week, former Fox News correspondent Dominic Di-Natale, 43, sent a text message to a close friend letting her know where authorities can find his body. That is one of many new details emerging from the story of how Di-Natale took fate into his own hands and ended his life before neurological illness consumed him.

Over at the New York Times, Ernesto Londoño paid tribute to his close friend, and revealed what led the war zone reporter sent to his fatal decision.

Some details: Di-Natale indicated he had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder in October 2012, quietly seeking treatment before noticing other physical ailments. In a letter to an unnamed friend, Di-Natale wrote that he hid his problems for fear of “social indignity and stigmas and the implications for my career.”

That was my first thought, there are good doctors and there are mediocre (or worse) doctors. A 2nd opinion from a GOOD neurologist is definitely called for when a doctor tells you that you will continue to decline.

In any case, RIP Dominic.

Absolutely! And that doctor should have his license suspended while they send him back for re-training.

....this was what I was thinking as it doesn’t sound like his ailments were so imminent that he had to “do it” NOW. Could he have had another year or two or three?

Oh well, what do I know on the subject? Nothing.

Absolutely. What a tragedy. It sounds like something else was going on here. The doctor told him it would only get worse?? Something this serious always needs a second opinion.

So sad. But never take on Doctors opinion as Gospel on anything.

What a heartbreaking story. Must have been difficult to work and stage behavior so illness would not be observed. Been in similar circumstances and putting on happy face through health issues is physically demanding and exhausting. Do not see his actions as cowardly but more as love for those who would be impacted with his care - in his mind. Prayers for all touched by his passing. We pass into another plane of existence, we do not die.

Tell me about it....

Several years ago my wife’s doctor diagnosed her with MS...

Imagine the Anxiety and fear we went though...until We decided to get a second opinion...a month later...

Doctor looked at her catscan and asked bewildered why we thought she had MS...

She actually had a ear canal problem... easily fixed...

He quit. He decided when he would die and decided over God. Hopefully he wasn’t of sound mind.

If he had PTSD then he may not have been in his right mind. Lord have mercy on him.
