The number of registered and self-described independents keeps growing. I think it is up to 22% of something like that.

I registered as an independent when I turned 18. I've never regretted my choice.

Does Alaska have a an open primary? If not you should reconsider. Voting in the Republican primary is the most important thing you can do. You did what the Republican Establishment wanted, to them they are glad you are gone and good riddance. Conservatives are a nuisance to them you did them a favor. I am not leaving I want cause as much trouble as I can.

I understand your motivation, but your move is bad strategy.

WE need to be able to ‘primary’ the scoundrels and we’ll never get there is every potential anti-incumbent vote chickens out.

Going in an independent party fit only plays into lefts advantage. Just look how (independent party)? Robert Sarvis turned Virginia blue the last two elections. He took only 2 % of the vote and msm is silent because he helped their party.
