The replacement of private charity by government control has been a driving principle of the progressive project for over a hundred years. This is just the latest fruits of the poison bough.

“The replacement of private charity by government control has been a driving principle of the progressive project for over a hundred years.”

Very true, and the use of the word ‘progressive’ is the ultimate political oxymoron. This approach is anything but progressive.

The ‘progressive’ leadership get no credit when you or I give to others charitably. When they take from us, and then ‘redistribute’, they get credit. That, IMHO, is the fundamental motivation behind replacement of charity with government, as you’ve described.

The next step is to replace the private distribution of food with government outlets (EBT cards on steroids). Then replace the private distribution of goods and services with government owned industry.
