Thoughts on the two programs? I love a good sleuthing show, but Elementary seems to muck up 100+ years of Sir Author Conan Doyle to me.

The only thing that comes into my house from CBS is an occasional football game, otherwise CBS can stuff it.

A funny line from Harrelson in True Detective...
What do you call a black man flying an airplane?
-I dont know.
-A pilot, you racist bastard!
True Detective was well done. I liked it enough to rent it twice.

Yes, Matthew McC. had the flashier part, and he was very good, but I thought Harrelson did an excellent job showing a very flawed, conflicted person who nevertheless was trying to do right, for the most part. And he conveyed very well that although he didn’t like his partner he trusted him completely.
He was a real three dimensional person, that is hard to do I think.

“Dr Joan Watson?”
Reason I tuned in originally. Lucy Liu, not the fact that she’s playing Dr. Watson. I like it. I hear good things about the BBC version so I’ll have to catch up on it.

True Detective is one of the handful of shows worth watching these days.

I watch Elementary, but am losing interest.
The female assistants theme just isn’t working. This season they have added a new one.

I watch all the British mysteries as soon as they come out on Netflix.
I watch a lot of the older and newer Brit series via Netflix.
Last year, I added the cable tier that has BBC America. The tier has 30 channels, but most are cartoon and music, so BBCA is the only channel I watch.
I have become very disappointed. BBCA shows too much of old American TV and movies, mostly of the science fiction variety. Most of them are available on regular cable anyway. I had hoped BBCA would have Brit programs. I used to watch them via downloads until various regulations got so picky about that.
I am about ready to drop the BBCA tier.

TD and Fargo are the two best series on TV. Oh, I would add “The Knick” as well so make that THREE.

I like Lucy Liu, but do not like the way she is used as Watson.

Peaky Blinders is very good. Although drama set in the past is a favorite of mine, I could not quite get interested in this one. The characters just seemed, I dunno, flat. May give it another try, though.
Speaking of Netflix, name escapes me of the series set in Seattle - detectives chasing a serial murderer . That's one I hated to see end.

Dr Joan Watson? Well, admittedly they play fast and loose with the Conan Doyle version of Holmes but I really like the show because the two leads do make it work. It's pretty well written and Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu are really great together.
