Two years after buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, Disney is starting to reveal just how Star Wars will be integrated into the companys theme parks.
Main attractions will be based on new sequels and spinoffs the first of which, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, bows next year not the older films in George Lucas sci-fi franchise, according to Walt Disney Co. chief Bob Iger.
There will be a much larger Star Wars presence in our parks globally, Iger said during a Q&A at Varietys Dealmakers Breakfast on Wednesday, sponsored by Delta Air Lines and Bank of America. But we want to do this big, which takes time, and to do it right.
For Disney and its team of theme park designers at Walt Disney Imagineering, that meant waiting until director J.J. Abrams could reveal his plans for The Force Awakens.

Started watching animated Star Wars Rebels on the Disney Channel last night. The Marathon is this Saturday at 4:00. I was shocked as to how much I truly enjoyed it.
I find Rebels fine, but I thought Clone Wars’ animation, characters(Ahsoka Tano being my favorite- everyone leaves Anakin), and story much better (spoiler alert- Jabba’s brother killed by the long lipped singer was precious). Be sure to see the Clone Wars series if you haven’t. Cheers!
If they don’t have Endor’s land speeders, they’re crazy. When I was a kid, zooming through the woods on my bike, that was all I ever imagined I was doing.
Disney will redeem themselves of this if they actually release episodes 4-6 unmastered on DVD and BluRay.
