A number of homosexual advocacy groups marched in the Sunday parade, including PFLAG, St. Johns Pride Inc., and local homosexual magazine OutPort.
PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), with hundreds of chapters around the world and 60 in Canada, exists to advance equality and full societal affirmation of LGBT people through its threefold mission of support, education, and advocacy. It has been a leading proponent of same-sex marriage and homosexual adoption. It also opposes abstinence-only education.
Homosexual activist Noah Davis-Power, former president of St. Johns Pride Inc., defended the Christmas parade as a suitable event for homosexual activism, writing in The Telegram that Canadians need to make progress in shifting our social paradigm and attitudes towards things LGBT, in particular the idea and concept of a non-traditional family.
When LGBT groups take part in family oriented events, such as the Christmas parade, that is a simple display of our community showing everyone that we want to be like everyone else that we want to be everyday people who have everyday jobs, everyday families and everyday lives, he wrote.

The Canadian AIDS Society states on its website that men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM) account for nearly 80% of all AIDS cases reported in Canada, calling the disease a threat to the gay community. A recent report from the US based Centers for Disease Control (CDC) showed that while MSM make up only 2 percent of the total population, they accounted for 63 percent of all newly-diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases in 2010.

If not this, besides fires what are fire hoses for?
I hate to say, "I told you so," but several years ago I did warn the Newfies of the danger in joining Canada and teaching too many fishermen to read anything but charts, compasses, and depth sounders.
When the celebration of sexual perversion penetrates an off the beaten track place like Newfoundland, you know Canadian society is deeply ill. Not to pick on Canada, we are no better in the United States.
Our posts make us liable for prosecution under Canada's "Hate Speech" Laws. Were I your Canadian Lawyer, in your defense I could point out that while your statement is clearly gender normative, you did not say anything against Islam or Muslims.
By plea bargaining, we could probably get you a six-month suspended sentence, but you might very well lose your job (a really big deal in Newfieland), be fined, and have a lifetime of government trouble.
That my FRiend, is what's going on north of the border.
Funny, I never got that in church.
People who march to proclaim their “pride” are really very ashamed of themselves.
