Anybody, do they let you inside the pyramids?
When I was there they did not let you in but I loved going to Egypt. In Luxor you do get to visit a couple of tombs in the Valley of the Kings and Queen Hatchetsup’s temple.
I was treated very warmly by everyone but that was 1997 & ‘99. I also thought Sharm el Sheik was amazing snorkeling. It is incredibly crowded and dirty but I Loved It!
Special arragements prior to arrival in Egypt only and maybe not then ... approval could take years ... tourist breathing has erroded some of the stone, plus the tendancy for them to leave all their trash behind - first place it lands when tossed.
Yes. We were there for a couple weeks before Mubarek was overthrown. It was wonderful. Yes, you can go inside some of the pyramids, but generally, it isn’t attractive. Better is to go to the Valley of Kings and tour the burial chambers whose walls are lined with colorful, intricate hieroglyphs. Abu Simbel was worth he trip. There are pyramids all over the place...outside Memphis there were several large ones including the step pyramid and the “bent” pyramid. Remember, there are several thousand years of history relatively preserved there. We have no complaints about the 2 week stay. We wouldn’t go now...to unstable politically.
I have been inside the Great Pyramid, in the geometric center where the Pharaoh’s sarcophagus is located. Pyramid power! That was in 1984. And yes, rode a camel at the pyramids. Egypt was an extraordinary travel destination. Would not go there today...a politically dangerous-disastrous destination now.
I have also been to Stonehenge...and many other extraordinary places in the British Isles.
I have been many places around the world, some vacation travel experiences, others business travel related. Have always made the most of those many destinations and enjoyed the experience.
