This is not a performance, it is praising God. Personal opinion only but perhaps He would rather have the songs led by someone who loves Him even if that person lacks a Ph.D in musical theory.
There is a trend of opinion - has been for some time - that says that God is honored by skilled musical performance, even if the performers do not believe in God or share in the religion in meaningful ways.
My view has always been that if anyone doesn’t think the local volunteer music isn’t good enough, they’re welcome to take over and do better.
