Illinois State lawmakers have joined several other states to call for a Constitutional Convention to amend the U.S. Constitution when it comes to campaign finance reform.
During debate on the House floor Wednesday, State Rep. Chapa LaVia said calls for the convention are to address campaign finance and the scope cannot go farther than that.
But outgoing State Rep. Mike Bost, who recently won an election to the U.S. House, says once the door is opened, anything is possible.
Once you open and you do a Constitutional convention, it is not going to be and cannot be focused just on one issue, you must then open up because its a Constitutional Convention you will be dealing with the entire Constitution, Bost said.
Bost says the danger is there could be unforeseen changes that are detrimental to the Constitutional Republic.

"Family poop is more like it."
There it is, readers: the character of the movement of the bureaucrats and their bosses against our Constitution.

I had written:
"1. Readers, are your state senators and representatives really more conservative than voters in general when it comes to regulating and spending?"
John Valentine replied:
"Wrong Question. The question ought to be whether or not the state legislators are more or less conservative regarding deficit spending, debt and regulation that the Washington Beltway crowd. Answer YES, they are."
Wrong answer. The anti-Constitution herd has often written its desire to repeal the 17th Amendment in order to give state legislators exclusive power to appoint senators to Congress instead of elections of senators by voters in the states. The "Washington Beltway crowd" has nothing to do with it except for their partnerships with members of state assemblies and their boss constituents (see pork, etc).

I believe the best thing we can do at our first Article V Convention of States is to repeal the 17th Amendment. This will go a long way toward correcting our big government problem by re-establishing a state presence in the federal government. Over time, a strong state presence in the Senate will help correct the dictitorial federal courts and reign the executive branch. And this is just one change that restores the election of senators to what the founders had originally constructed. We cannot allow fear to make us immobile. I believe the left is intentionally trying to scare us into not using this method to destroy their tyranny. I for one will not let them. While I respect opposing views, there is nothing to fear in calling the Convention of States.
