The popular Libertarian occupied the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. time slot, which will now be filled by guest hosts.

KABC, one of the largest AM radio stations in Los Angeles, has parted ways with Larry Elder, one of the channel's most popular talk-show hosts.

The station, owned by Cumulus Media, declined to comment on Elder's departure, though insiders said advertising sales executives were blindsided by the decision and voiced their displeasure to a defensive Drew Hayes, KABC's operations director.

Elder, a sometimes controversial, always passionate and eloquent Libertarian, had been with KABC for about 20 years, though separated into multiple stints.

I only heard Elders on occasion, but liked him.

Personality conflict with higher ups or liberal racism?

I am not surprised. KABC has been shedding Conservatives for years. I know Elder was more Libertarian. We no longer live in SoCal so I haven’t heard him for a long time. But it wouldn’t surprise me if Larry had a similar opinion to Charles Barkley on Ferguson. Sorry to learn the Sage of South Central is leaving KABC. SoCal will be the worse for his absence.

Too bad Elder is good people. Maybe he’ll turn up on Fox doing more.

No way.

Elder is in fact the best of the best in cutting through and being absolutely rational and analytical.

Hopefully they can get rid of Hugh Hewitt or more likely recorded Mike Gallagher.

This makes me mad.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if this is because of his strong support for officer Wilson and the grand jury in Ferguson. KABC has been tilting to the left ever since they stopped airing Hannity at noon, right before Elder’s show at 3. Now they’ll likely have nothing but liberals and ‘happy’ talk.... And very low ratings.

Well, I have no reason to listen at all to KABC now. I will remove AM 790 from my car radio’s memory.

“only heard Elders on occasion”

Respectfully, while I wish there were many, there is only one. Larry ELDER, the sage of South Central.

Thanks !

KEIB could sure use Larry at 3 (same time slot as usual). Currently they have that Dave whathisname’s bore-fest of a show talking about mortgages and such.

Amen to that! Those guys are GOP establishment types and practically useless to the conservative cause they speciously claim to be part of. Especially that moron Hewitt.

This is the second time they have parted ways, he’s just not controllable enough for them.

I know Larry and have been a guest in studio. Our nation would certainly be much better off if the “black community” listened to the lessons he taught.

Right on. I suggest we (Fox News) trade up for Larry Elder and offer up Juan Williams and $1,000,000 in cash to KABC.

Yes, I realize that KABC gave up their rights to Larry Elder. The $1,000,000 is a gratitude payment for taking Juan Williams. Now this may make no sense to Fox News management but for me it would be the Deal of the Century.

That was my first thought. Get him on KEIB if they can find 3 hours available somewhere.

My dad is a big Larry Elder fan.
