As recently as 1980 gutta percha was still being used in dentistry to fill the hole left in one’s jaw after a root canal ream job. Nowadays they may use something else, or as in my case, they remove the whole tooth, implant a titanium post and mount a new ceramic tooth on it. Sans problem. Sans a bunch of $$$, too.

Thanks for posting this.
Reminded me of a 1992 article I read where a container ship lost some cargo during a storm. The containers, filled with sneakers, broke open and strewed the contents far are wide.
Oceanographers were ecstatic and tracked the current flows via those Nikes.
