Almost all cases and all but 15 deaths have been in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia - the three hardest-hit countries, which reported 600 new cases in the past week, the WHO said in its latest update.
"The total number of cases reported in Sierra Leone since the outbreak began will soon eclipse the number reported from Liberia," it said. The former British colony has reported 6,599 cases against 7,168 in Liberia.
Transmission of the virus remains intense in Sierra Leone, especially in the west and north, with the capital Freetown still the worst affected area, it said.
Sierra Leone appealed to the United States on Wednesday to send military aid to help it battle Ebola as it falls behind its West African neighbors Guinea and Liberia in the fight against the virus.""GENEVA (Reuters) - The death toll in the world's worst Ebola epidemic has risen to 5,689 out of 15,935 cases reported in eight countries by Nov. 23, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday.

“WE’re Number One! We’re Number One!”
I thought it was under control?
According to the Ebola Czar, it is! Yeah!
We’re #1, we’re#1
beat me to it
Gee, nothing in the news lately.
The weeks of wide differences between the case rates and fatality rates show us that they haven’t been getting accurate fatality rate numbers. Besides, the burial dudes have been repeatedly cheated out of pay and reacting with strikes.
Who? Who’s that?
I don’t believe he/she exists
Prove he/she exists
That there have been virtually no reports on Ebola cases here in the US in recent weeks has my mental radar going off. Especially after the healthcare workers hopped on public transportation and airplanes, which in my opinion, they both should face some sort of charges regardless of the CDCs ok to travel - common sense people (but I realize bridezilla had a weddin’ to plan). There truly have been no other transmissions? Just seems too quiet to satisfy my curiosity.
AIDS redux...both out of Africa.
and to make the news happier, the black plague has broken out in Madagascar.
"The first case was reported in August. As of November 19, there have been 119 cases and 40 deaths. The plague is spread among rodent populations by fleas, who can also infect humans.

"The bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death, may conjure images of the rings around the rosie and millions of deaths across medieval Europe, but the disease continues to be a menace from Madagascar to China and even America. News that an ongoing outbreak of bubonic plague has killed 47 people in Africa has restored fears of the disease common in wild rodents in the Western United States."

Thanks.
In late October I called every MO state rep (even if they weren’t my district rep), MO state senator, US house rep, and US senator’s offices pleading that they temporarily cease flights into and out of the US from west Africa. My optimism says it wasn’t a waste of time, but....
Good for you! I’m still stuck with McShamnesty and McFlake, masterminds of Illegal Immigration. Even the smallest of questions the phone calls are Not returned.
Each office I called assured me they were presenting legislation that week to stop the flights. No cigar.
I dont understand why they don’t flex their muscle and override this a-hole POS POTUS complete disregard and lawlessness for the people he was sworn to protect. If any one of us failed to perform this badly at our jobs, we’d be filing for unemployment.
