Who would guess this unassuming Toyota Echo would be able to sleep 2 people comfortably (if a little cozily, you do have to like your traveling companion)?

I met a woman who was easily sleeping in her car while traveling. It was a head on.

No one seriously injured but I did loose a nice sports sedan.

The old Nash and Rambler autos had fold down seats for sleeping. They were pretty cozy.

And those famous Rambler seats! Anybody who was a teenager or young adult during the Rambler’s era will never forget them, especially if they had a chance to fully utilize them. And not by going car-camping with their parents

Seems a bit of a stretch to truly classify this Toyota as a "RV" even with the modest wooden modifications.
It is essentially folding down the rear seats and sleeping with feet extended towards back of vehicle in trunk.
It also begs the question...does one simply put all their luggage and possessions outside while asleep?

Aw shoot, just tip the front seats back into the recline position. They’re about as comfortable as a recliner at home in most any modern car.

Meh, my 73 Duster has a fold-down backseat and door to trunk as a factory option.

I’m 5’18” and have slept in it with plenty of room.

I had both a ‘66 and a ‘68 Barracuda. At one time Plymouth sold a mattress for the back.

Reminds me of the old Volvo 240 that had the hole into the trunk through the fold down arm rest in the middle of the back seat. That way you could put your skis through the trunk back before the days of the roof rack.

Heh. I used to have a ‘73 duster with three on the floor and a slant six. That was an awesome car. My only complaint was that the gas mileage sucked. The seat arrangement was the same as my Scion FR-S. The seat folded down but it wasn’t quite a hatchback since only a trunk lid opened.
