22 November 1963. 51 years ago. Do you remember where you were and what you were doing that day? I was in phys ed class and had just finished running the cross country course. As I walked up the locker room door, Coach Waite was sitting on the steps with his face in his hands. He was crying. I asked what was wrong and he told me that President Kennedy had been shot and killed. That was a bad day for me.

Interesting, Bendy. I was transitioning from one college class to another when I heard that someone had shot Kennedy in Dallas. I was a freshman at ETSU. My most vivid recollections turn upon the oddity I noticed then of how the campus seemed to shrug it off so easily ...

I had a part in the play 'The Time of Our Lives'. My part was not significant to the plot, but the play went on that night as if nothing about our nation had changed. I could not make myself be that nonchalant so I did not go on. Now, so many dacdes later, with an accumulation of data surrounding Kennedy and his policies and the reality of a global oligarchy who will slaughter opposition to secure their empowerment, I realize in a very different way that Yes, our nation was changed with that fateful event and the massive pile of lies that followed.

BTW Bendy, I'm a little older than you, and I ain't old yet, Dude.

Re: I had a part in the play 'The Time of Our Lives'. My part was not significant to the plot,

There are no small parts-- Only small actors. Now... open wide.

Gadzooks, MGH-- I was involved in that play three times. Once playing Joe, once as Tom and the last time I directed and played Kit Carson--

I occasionally watch the 1948 film of it starring James Cagney when it comes on TMC, every seen it?

Just wondering... what small part did you play?

Your photo looks like a young Mike Nichols.

BTW, I misread the line saying the producer wanted Valerie Bertinelli to play the girl, but you wanted Mark Harmon. That would’ve been a curious casting choice. =8-0

“We were attending a morning class.”

It took place at 12:30 pm, central time. Were you in the mountain or pacific time zone, then (in order for it to be morning)?

I can’t recall the time of day. But I can recall the TV stuck on nothing but Kennedy assassination news for about a week.

My family was very Republican. I was born in Whittier, where my mother grew up. She graduated from Whittier College a few years after Nixon. Nixon was good, and Kennedy was bad.

Nevertheless the family and nation were in profound sadness for days.

Re: Your photo... looks like a young... Mike Nichols.

Not the first time... I've been told that--

And I'd prefer... Angie... over Mark... IMHO--

This school still has Latin--it continues to be a REQUIRED subject there.

What school is that? It sounds like one of the 'one in a thousand' I referred to upthread.

My point was, there was a time in America when something like an 8th grade Latin class was commonplace. Not so, today. It's just another sign of decay in our country.

I lived in upstate New York then, as I do now. Therefore it would have been 1:30 local time for me when the assassination occurred. Thanks for the correction.

Well Bend, I was just in the first grade at the Stony Brook Elementrary School in Stratford, Connecticut. Evidently this is what's left of it ...

Did you run across Maddox and Turner Joy?

Actually I did. They were coming back after the so called attack, passed them between Long Beach and Pearl.

LOL!!!

NO, no...

I’m the oldest of 6.

Your post did compel me to call my Mom and tell her I love her.

She’s just so happy to have 6 good children, who are independent, self determined, of a hopeful spirit and of good gratitude.

Her words.

Mom’s are weird.

They never stop talking you up and mostly, they stop talking. LOL

Geezus. It’s not like she doesn’t have 5 other kids to talk to and 18 grandchildren.

But, mommies is whut they is.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
