Less than two years ago some believed Robert Griffin III could change the way the United States was governed.
Not just change the football fortunes of the Washington Redskins, not just change the bottom line for Nike or Subway or anyone else who'd jumped in with a pleasant, charismatic and dynamic quarterback, not just change how his position is played, in his case with 4.3 speed and an accurate arm.

There were actually mocking his religious views today on the radio. One station is going to have a "mock funeral" for him on Friday. One radio commentator was actually worried RG3 would have a good game on Sunday.
Having said all that, I never thought he was a right pick for Washington. I thought marketing had a lot to do with it and this perception by some that Shanahan was racist in his dealings with McNabb.

The problem with the ‘skins is the owner. He needs to sell the team to someone with a clue.
Yeah, Bob has been kind of a bust.
At least, he has a nice logo.
In that draft, it was between Andrew Luck and RG3. I wasn’t enough of a football expert to see who was the better pick at the time, but as of now it sure looks like Luck is a long term keeper and RG3 will stay mediocre.
Remember the year it was a tough call between Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf?
Good ol’ Jack! I miss him.
Jesus Christ: You cant impeach Him and He aint gonna resign.
Hell, I remember the year when Drew Bledsoe and Rick Mirer were #1 and #2.
I remember the Indy owner saying that they had interviewed both Leaf and Manning.
When they asked of Leaf what he would do if Indy drafted him, he replied, “Throw a party!”
When they asked Manning what he would do, he replied, Ask for the play book and start studying it.
That is all Indy had to know, so the story goes.
I live in Indy, and though never a Colts fan, I have a lot of respect for Manning. He was always a stand-up guy in his behavior and extremely generous to charities. He endowed the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital where my grandson was born.
My perception is that RGIII is a very smart player. He surprised the hell out of my during his rookie year.
Then he got hurt. I think he got loads of conflicting advise on how he had to “play the game” from that point.
He’s never been the same since. Now he’s lost and tentative. Afraid to run.
He is a marketing scam, just like Cam Newton. ENOUGH of the “mobile” quarterback bs. The NFL is trying so hard to change the quarterback position, but the top 10 quarterbacks are ALWAYS those pesky boring slow white guys.
The problem is the team drafted a QB for a team the coached for traditional passer, not a wildcatter.
Those "mobile" quarterbacks are extremely talented. It's just that their shelf life isn't long because of all the hits they take in the NFL.
Those pesky boring slow white guys know how to avoid hits so that's why you see them last 10-15 years in the league.
They can hit receivers too. Kind of an important quality of a QB. Those mobile quarterbacks largely suck.
You can usually tell by the end of the season whether a QB will make a living with his arm or with his legs (or neither, he won't make it at all).
Those exciting rookies who tuck the ball and run ("mobile") go 1 or 2 seasons until they're so banged up they have to stop running and start throwing, or perish.
That's where RG3 is now.
